JBL VS JL support your decisions

yeah i need a strong low end. does it sound alot better sealed 2kchevy? i have some negative feelings about sealed setups because of what ive heard in the past, but these were never subs like a gti or a w6, so IDK...
I will say this. I've heard two 10" w6's sharing a 1.2 or 1.3 box. It sounds good but just really didn't do a whole lot for me low end wise. Now I haven't done the research on that particular sub to know what would be a better choice box wise but I just wasn't that impressed with the output it had for being low. It had enough power, trust me, it was being pushed by an Orion 2500D.

Does it sound better(Gti)? I dunno that's to subjective. Like I said I only heard it ported for maybe 2 minutes and in that short time I felt it was wayyy to loud for my tastes. Thus, I enjoy it being sealed but another person may not. I've been wanting to experiment with boxes actually, I'm gonna build a ported box here in the next month or so and post a review on it.

ok well ill probably build one ported, and one sealed and find out waht works better for me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

thanks for everyones input

cotjones stfu have you even used the JBL?? i don't think so //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif
JBL GTi > W6

I've owned both and your small brain wouldn't know that the JBL GTi can go in a sealed box as small as .5 cu ft with polyfill and still sound amazing

If you know what your doing.. JBL GTi all the way both in price and performance //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/drool.gif.b5e863e893038027711d4402f340dad0.gif

I have owned a Fi Q as well.. JBL beat it in SQ and SPL with ease IMO
dude! hahaha....

seriously, you don't need to be telling me to shut up when you're saying that the JBL can perform amazing in a box it can't physically fit in, hahaha lmao

due to the mounting depth and diameter, the minimum box size possible is .72

that's probably a very wise choice. I do the same thing with every sub I've had so far.

seemed pretty obvious to me he was talking about after sub displacement?? maybe im wrong idk what you mean exactly

well he said, it can do well "IN A BOX AS SMALL AS 5cu." even if after displacement... thats still .57... and i seriously doubt you want the back of the sub and the sides touching the side of the box, plus, how much polyfill could you put in it? haha

i don't care... a gti in .57 cubes sealed will sound like BALLZ!!!

you have to FILL it with polyfill in even a full cube

bottom line is dude needs to at least know his shit before he ignorantly tries to flame me

dude i know this is hard to listen to coming from me...

but the W6 has:

Higher XmaX...

Larger excursion...

way more piston area...

almost the same power handling capability...

better efficiency...

simpler VC configuration...

and an arguably flatter responce...

JBL very sneakily posts its efficiency in terms of

91db@(2.83v/1m)

JL's is:

87.4db@(1w/1m)

when converted to the scale of (2.83v/1m), the jl:

93.4db@(2.83v/1m)

so W6>GTI in many ways //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

they W6 is likely to be louder and sound better doing it...

Efficiency is NOT the same thing as sensitivity. It also has very little to do with getting loud. Learn your parameters.

Also, have you ever heard of mounting a sub inverted? It would be very possible to put a GTI in .5 cubes although I doubt it would sound great. It would be in the same alignment as the w6 in .85 cubes. Since he isn't looking to save space, it's pointless to worry about.

I have some questions for you though, cotjones:

1) Define "arguably flatter response" and give the enclosures you're talking about.

2) Give me your reasons why you think the w6 will sound better.

3) Tell me what the original poster wants out of their sub setup.

Also, I'm sure 2mm xmax is a huge reason to pick one sub or another. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

It also seemed very clear that this guy wasn't all that concerned with output so why worry so much about cone area when it's possible to get very loud with even a 10" sub?

He should choose the sub that best fits what he wants for his application.

Oh really? Thats why I had mine in a .5 cu ft after displacement sealed box and it was amazing, stop with your uneducated responses no one wants to hear your bullshit opinion. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif
