JBL BP1200.1 not enough for my XXX?

I currently have a JBL BP1200.1 and a 15XXX in a 3.5cubic box tuned to 33hz. I am looking for a new amp because I figured that 1200 watts is not enough for it. Other people are suggesting other amps for it such as the Orion 1200d and the Kicker kx1200. Alot of people say the Hifonics amps arent that great because they are overrated. The Kicker and Orion are supposedly underranted but are rated by the company at 1200. So I'm kind of confused what to do. Right now I think my setup could be louder than what it is. Alot of people say 200 or 300 more watts isnt going to be distinguishable in the human ear. Also I know this thing should be able to get louder because I've heard a 12 get louder in a sealed box with less power. I know my gain and LPF are set right and my amp is getting 14v to it althought it fluctuates from 14 to around 12 as it is playing music. So I need some good suggestions. Is the JBL just not that good? Should I get a new amp? Maybe make a new box tuned to somewhere between 35-40hz? Would that make it louder? Maybe go sealed? But most people say sealed is less spl. I do know that I cant get much bigger than 3.5cu ft in my trunk. I have a Neon and the trunk isnt all that big. Maybe a 15" XXX is too big for my car?

well if your volts are dropping to 12, your electrical system needs upgrading. what kind of car do you have? is your car sound deadened? a bigger box and higher tuning will also increase spl.

I have a Dodge Neon and no my trunk isnt deadened but that isn't the problem. 3.5 cubes is kinda my max internal volume and higher tuning = less SQ so i dunno if i want that.

They're right, once you're over a kW, 200 watts isn't going to make much of a difference in audible output.

I'm so tired of this statment now. One guy go's around saying that they are overrated with no factual proof. And everybody jumps on the friggen bandwagon. Are they overrated? Dont know, maybe yes maybe no. No one knows for sure. I've yet to see one shred of evidence against it. All I know is there rated at 14.4v. I think it would take at least 10 different bench tests on different amps from different shops to conclude this.

And to be honest the BX1500D is a common setup on the XXX. I know for a fact it works amazing.

But hey if you want to listen to hear say then be my guest.

I'm just tryin to clear that up.

try the XXX in the same box that the magnum was in.... 3.5 cubes @ 33 hz, you shouldn't be disappointed with the SQ or the SPL on it.

I never understood this. If your going to say something negative regarding a product please explain in the same post why.

Were you expecting to much? Did you want it for a different reason than it was created for? Or did you just install it wrong.

I ask this cuz I have yet to meet one person not impressed by my 12XXX. Including me. It is insanely loud and very accurate. Best sub I've heard. Granted not all the speakers I've heard were installed to there optimal due to half brained installers. But none the less this speaker is very impressive.

No really, I dont understand how you can see it as not worth buying but many others including myself love it. What went wrong???

then theres definitely something wrong. first, what gauge wire are u running? second, size alt? do you have a deep cycle battery? upgrade the big 3, deaden the shit out of your trunk... if by then your xxx15 isnt loud enough in your little *** car then you're deaf. it may also have something do with you box. for the 15 i would put it in 3-3.5cf SEALED despite what RE recommends which imo is too small (i think they do it to not scare people away with box sizes). for a ported box i would do at least 4cf, ideally 4.5.

I just read a little of your review thread.

Thats nice it does not work for you but at least don't go around to all the XXX threads and start posting negative crap about it. Just recommend what you do like. Like the SS sub...
