JBL BP-1200.1Z Power Issues?

I am going to be purchasing a JBL 1200.1 either today or tomorrow. I am slightly concerned about power issues however. I have a stock alternator and a stock battery. Does this amp pull a lot of power? Would it be wise for me to purchase and install a new alternator or batter as well? If it's possible I would like to avoid installing new car parts since I don't really plan on having my current vehicle for much longer. Thanks for the help.

it pulls around 120 amps at full power... i would recommend the big3 upgrade / HO alternator. im not completely done with the big 3 but i regrounded a few things and it helped out alot.

do a search for "magic-3", "big-3", and get on SoundDomain.com... there is an excellent tutorial there.. would someone mind posting a link, im too lazy to do it myself.

There are numerous other threads on the same upgrade - if you have any other questions just let us know and I'm sure we will be able to steer you in the right direction.

Is this upgrade dangerous? After reading through that tutorial, I noticed that the guy said something about a battery blowing up... Has this really ever happened?

naw... fuse your + battery to + alternator with like a 200+ amp fuse.. shouldnt be a problem at all. i did the grounding parts, i just have to buy a 200 amp inline fuse to complete it.
