Amp to power an Kicker L7?

Kicker L7!
I am ordering a 12" Kicker Solo Baric L7 this weekend. I'm also going to be purchasing an amp but I am not sure which amp I should get for this sub. I know the RMS for this amp is 750 Watts. I really want to get a kicker amp to pair with this sub. Would the 600.1 push this amp enough or should I get the 850.2 and bridge it?

Also, what should I do about breaking in an L7? I don't wanna dump that much money into a sub and have it blow the next day. Thanks

I was surfing through the forums today and found a link to the JBL BP-1200.1Z amp. It's only 200 bucks! Would 1200 Watts at 2 ohms make 2 Solo-Baric L7's jump pretty good? I've never really messed with any JBL stuff. Is that a good amp? I obviously couldn't push 1200 watts through ONE L7... I'm kinda torn as to whether I want to purchase a 2 ohm L7 and hook one up to the JBL amp at 4 ohms *Effectively pushing 600 watts through it* or if I want to dump extra money into getting a second L7 right away *I was going to do this anyway eventually but I can't really afford TWO right now*. Can that JBL amp compete with a KX850.2?

Heh, now on to question 2. I was planning on getting a sealed box for now and then maybe venturing into making my own ported box later. I found a place that sells "vented boxes" but they don't meet the minimum volume requirements for an L7. Should I just go sealed for now to kinda help them break in?

Yes

Yes. It's underrated, puts out around 1300w.

I'd just get a single 2ohm/coil L7 now, run it @ 4ohm on the amp, then when you have more money you can purchase a 2nd 2ohm/coil L7 and wire them up @ 2ohm.

Compete how? Raw power output; the JBL is around 300-400w more powerful. Plus the JBL is a little more "impedence friendly" because it is stable all the way down to 1ohm (puts out the same power as at 2ohm). Quality wise; The Kicker may be a little better quality wise, but I definitely wouldn't call the JBL a bad amp by any means.

Break-in is entirely overrated. Just use them like you would normally use them. If any "breaking in" was to occur, it would happen just as well with normal use.

i love my BP1200.1.. its got a sexy little heat sink that lights up orange too... like squeak said get a Dual 2 ohm VC and run it @ 4... then save a little cash and buy another and run 'em @ 2 ohms... they will love every bit of the 1200+ watts you'll send it. holla.

Wow thanks a lot guys. That's exactly what I am going to do. I'll purchase one L7 this weekend and that amp and run that at 4 ohms untill I get my second L7. Then I'll hook them up to that amp at 2 ohms. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I'm so excited. Thanks again for the help!

haha yeah, I'm gonna try to pick up some Dynamat before I order the sub and amp so that I can at least get the back of my car matted. I guess I'll have to build a ported box too. I've never built a speaker box before though. Can anyone point me in the right direction. I'm a pretty good handy man so I think I could do it heh.

EDIT: Yeah... I just realized that there's a subwoofer section that I should have made this topic in...
