JBL amp?

Right now I am thinking of putting 2 RE 8's in the rear of my Wrangler. I am thinking of running the JBL GTO301.1 amp to power them at a 2 ohm load. Would this be sufficent or close to overkill? The subs run at 175 wrms which I'm sure you all know. After I read my first post I got to thinking. Does RE make the RE 8's in a 2 ohm DVC configuration? I can't remember correctly but I thought I read a thread saying they were only making 4 ohm DVC's? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/help.gif.cee8f684da1ba626487a8bc51152e1ec.gif

yep DVC 4 ohm, they might have the DVC 2ohm but you gotta ask RE.

I do know that a different VC configuration is $22 or $25, not shure

So what are my options then if I wanted to use this amp? I can't really justify spending $25 for an option on a sub that only cost $50 to begin with. I want to stick with 2 RE 8's and hopefully this amp. Are the older model 8's 2 ohm DVC's?

the old ones are DVC 2 ohm, someone on the forum might have 2 used ones.

Im not to shure if the $25 applies to the 8's. i would email/phone RE first about that

Well, let me ask this question. If I were to run this amp at its 4 ohm rating of 204 wrms, what wattage would the subs see? Also, same question for running it at 2 ohms with a load rating of 294 wrms wired either in a parallel or series configuration. at 4ohms 102w each, which is plenty of power.

DVC 4ohm subs dont do to 2 ohms only 4ohms or 1ohm

Now if you got some DVC 2ohm wired @ 2ohms they would get about 150w each.
