sorry guys but i had so many questions. either way, it came down to this.

i can get a really, really good deal for a JBL1200.1, or i could go for a MTX thunder6500D, or Phoenix Gold QX900.1d (

i read that this amp blow subs pretty easy as it also plays distortion, true?

then, wat's a subsonic filter? JBL doesn't have one, how does it affect it?

it's true that the JBL gets more power for the buck, n way more power (+400watts). but can i rely on the JBL to power 2 10'' L5s, of course settin the gains ns tuff corectly.

wat do u guys think of the MTX 6500D? is it better than the JBL?

please help!!!, i already decided in everything, except for the amp. please vote for either one, help me out here, thanks! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/banghead.gif.8606515f668c74f6de0281deb475b6fd.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/banghead.gif.8606515f668c74f6de0281deb475b6fd.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/banghead.gif.8606515f668c74f6de0281deb475b6fd.gif

No amp is going to play distortion unless it is sending clipped signals..which is the operator's fault. A subsonic filter makes sure the amp doesn't play extra low frequencies, which humans can't hear and can damage a subwoofer. This doesn't matter unless your porting your box. Yes you can rely on the jbl to power your subs..in fact the jbl is underrated abit. I don't have any experience with the 6500D and as you can see I am very biased to jbl...so you have my answer

the only reason that amp would blow subs is if it gives them to much power....it puts out aprox 13-1400 watts.....

then, wat's a subsonic filter? JBL doesn't have one, how does it affect it?

unless your building a ported box you shouldnt worry about the subsonic filter....it just blocks the lower freq that we cant hear (if im not mistaken) so that it doesnt interfere w/ your port???not 100% sure on that one tho

yep....shouldnt have any problem providing you dont play volume master

well mtx is good...but im not all that famalier w/ that particular amp sorry

one more thing, it says that the 1200.1 draws a lot of current/power from the battery. ihave stock alternator n battery, do i really need a cap? i read that it cuts off cuz it overheats or cuz not enough power, so a cap is necessary?

12.0V input n 14.4V input, they r regulated by the gauge of the power wire?

depends.....the 1200.1 will draw aprox 114 amps max @2ohms.....i belive its a bit more at 1ohm...so check out what your stock alt puts out.......a cap would help but its only a bandaide....get a larger alt if you have any problems....

All of the numbers are great..... 1300-1400 watts max. Great. If can though, buy the Rockford TYPERF X5. I replace a guys 1200.1 with the X5 and it blew it out of the water. It's a much better amp for the price (retail) even though it says it only puts out 550 watts.

do you think that 2 E15KD2's could handle an MTX 81000D at full power? also, since it's rated at 14.4 i figure it would actually be less, so the subs wouldn't actually be seeing 1500W. i would wire the 2 voice coils in series, creating 2 4 ohms loads, then putting them in parallel, back down to 2 ohm right? correct me if i'm wrong please.

oh, and my oppinion, i'd go with the MTX, i really do believe that you get what you pay for. i have an old mtx amp and it sounds great.

ur correct if they are 2ohm coils. and i personally like the 81000d and think ur subs will be fine with it.

the jbl is great amp for the money, and as many people have sed u are getting much more power. As long as u don't run the 1200.1 @1ohm u should be fine. I just got 1 and i'm running it @2ohms on my stock battery and alternator w/ no cap. and it works fine. I would recommend the JBL, but don't get me wrong MTX does still make some good amps

Just noticed, some of the signatures are getting a bit obnoxios (spelling)... Holly crap. I mean mrray you have a freakin monster truck in your signature.

oh, you know what, i just remembered, the amp i have was bought directly from MTX and i still have the "Certified Performance Certificate". mines rated at 80Wx2W @ 4ohm, it actually puts out 115x2W @ 4ohm, and it's rated at 160x2W @ 2ohm, it actually puts out 197x2W @ 2ohm. so, for mine anyways, it was about 30% underrated at 4ohms and 19% underrated at 2ohms. and also, the distortion was rated at .05% @ 4ohm, and it was actually .011%, and at 2 ohm it was rated at .1%, and it was actually .042%. so yeah, that's for any of you out there that are thinking about buying an mtx amp, they're underrated and they sound great:)
