Can you bitch to your provider and get a credit? We get cable and internet from the same place (Time Warner) and the internet was down for over a week once and I called and raised nine kinds of hell until they gave us a week's worth of service credit on the bill.
You aren't getting the actual weeks worth of credit though. Trust me, I've done that with my internet service. It's $49 before taxes, and for two weeks it was out and they gave me $16 dollars back.

I've had the bellsouth tech out here so much I know his first and last name and he knows me very well also. He even told me how much he gets paid. Dude makes over 60K a year. Anyhow, everytime I upgrade the service to a faster one, something goes wrong and I'm out for 1-2 weeks, until they figure out whats wrong.

 
When you call tech support on the phone for Bellsouth Fast Access internet you're talking to someone in my hometown - non-outsourced call centers FTW!
Well those *****es need to learn to speak English fluently. I've only gotten one white person, and she was a redneck. The rest sounded like Chinese or Japanese and didn't have a clue what was going on. It sounded like they were reading out of a book. I'd tell them something from my knowledge of having the shit repaired so much and they'd be clueless. They kept telling me to push in the reset button and wait 30 seconds. The last person that told me that, below is my reply

Sir, will you please get a pen and push in the reset button on the back of your modem, hold it for 30 seconds

Look, I've already done all the shit that's in your book before I called you. I can barely understand a word coming out of your mouth. So just send a tech to my house, one that speaks English, and things will work out.

 
No, not really.

i definatly agree there. wish i could get my directv back. if i were you i'd see about trying to align your dish a bit better if possible. very seldom did i have problems with my signal regarding weather, but thats cause i had a 99% signal in clear weather.
