Type S is total entry level. I'm sure it will blend in nicely enough with the fronts, but as far as giving any real rumble really no 10" in a sealed box is going to deliver much.... especially out of a trunk! Trunks eat about 3-6dB from my experience.Would it be beneficial to change to a ported box? I saw some refurbished Kicker 12 inch solo baric L5 in a ported enclosure for good a price. Any thoughts on them? I heard they hit really hard.
My original budget was around $400. I spent a little over $350 for the amp, sub, enclosure and the wiring kit. I have no problem with woodworking and building my own box if need be. I was hoping for this system to be able to really feel the bass thump in the seat. It's not bad but I guess I expected a little more punch. I didn't expect to have it maxed out to feel some bass. Mainly listening to metal and rock. How about, what sort of budget do you have? What's your level of comfort with woodworking? How much space do you have to work with? What precisely do you want this to do?
Tried your suggestion and it is a bit louder. Maybe just rip out the entire backseat. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/waycrazy.gif.f4a380c3f94043939fd369defd9e6be2.giflower the back seat so you can see the trunk. helps in my friends trunk cars.
the amount you would gain by ripping out back seats would not be worth actually ripping out your back seats lol. you really should look into a CUSTOM made ported enclosure. many good builders are on this site or build it with your son (i think you said its his car lol). it would be a good project. a custom box, lower your back seat, and proper settings sound like your best bet to get your sub louder.Tried your suggestion and it is a bit louder. Ok. Going to go for the custom ported box. Ill report back when were done. Thanks for all the helpbuild a ported box its under 40 bucks for the wood and there are lots of free designs out there for boxes. get something around 1.4 cubes
plus if the box is right, most 10s would fit fine, so if you decide you want to switch to a different 10, like the SA-10 you could mount it in that box have it be a D2 sub and wire your amp to 1 ohm. all without need a new amp or box.Ok.
