It has been a bad night :(

Im sure its a jaydeeemmm intake that goes behind his fender, and scrapes the ground when theres gravel on the roadway
all for 3 horsepower

at the crank

in perfect conditions

on 103 octane
Yeah but THAT low...goodness...I'll stick to my hacked airbox, no loss in power and moderate sound //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

quick question for ya; Was this a stock intake?
this could happen with a stock intake. I was with my friend when he put a rod through his hemi block in a newer (06?) dodge ram 2500. We were offroading and he was only going through maybe 10" of water, but was going to fast

sry not on your side for this one, it is not his fault you have a puss *** car. I have had a Civic before and driven through much deeper puddles. It shouldn't be his fault as he did nothing wrong. It's your fault for having a puss car or not being specific about how he should be careful about driving though puddles.

Think about it... it's a fuking "puddle". Jesus christ, people these days!

that would be high rpm...the box can not negate all velocity in that case....i have kept my stock system except for drilling an extra hole in the bottom of the box and never had problems with water...i have had it up to mid door, but then i never exceed 2500rpm in mud or deep puddle

and one of these...it gives you another 30hp:D

Moral of the story... Don't let anyone borrow your car...
I don't even let people drive my car if I am riding with them...
So true but I do let them take it around a parking lot under 10 mph some times just to see how it drives.

A cold air intake is pretty much the exact opposite of a snorkel for people that offroad.

But I agree that not being able to drive thru a puddle=teh sukz.

Now you know you should have a air bypass valve.

my car got hydrolocked by me =(

it was 5 am and I was driving to work.

It had been raining for all weekend and this was monday morning.

I came over a huge hill ( I live in the sticks) and the pond that is over the hill had flooded over greatly. The water was about 3 ft deep. I was going 65mph and it was to late by the time I saw the water, and yes I had a full cold air intake.

Insurance covered it with out a problem. I think repairs, new engine, and labor was about $5k

but this was from the dealer.

When I got the car home I took off the CAI and put a short ram.

Much happier now and no risk of hydrolock

Sure they do... Just A LOT less than a gas will... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
Well he is right, they don't. At least water doesn't. They do expand and contact because of heat however.

Jesus, ive drove trucks straight through our river, over and over, without a snorkel and never had a problem as long as it stays running and doesnt **** water into the exhaust.

Was this just dumb luck or what?
