Okay, i am looking to upgrade my system....

this is what i have:

Pioneer Premeir DEH-840MP

Infinity Kappa 693.5i 6"x9" (back)

Infinity Kappa 63.5i 6-1/2" (front)

Rockford Fosgate 4040

Rockford Fosgate 250.2

(2) Rockford Fosgate XLC 12''

-------------------------------

I am going to keep the deck and the Infinity speakers for the front and back... was thinking about just putting the 4040 on the Infinities.

What i am looking to get is some new subs and new amp (if needed).

I was thinking of (2) JL 12W6 (Continuous Power Handling: 400 Watts)

powered by a Rockford Fosgate 851S

-215 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms

425 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms

850 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms in bridged mode

--------------------------------

I really don't know much about what amps sound good with what subs.... I don't know shit about RMS or ohms so any explinations would be of great help!!!! thanx for your patience with a newbie!

ALSO! what does SQ stand for?

SQ is sound quality.

An amp amplifies the signal from your HU. So as long as you get an amp that will provide the proper amount of power to your subs you'll be alright. 1st decide what subs you want then search for an amp. The W6s with the RF amp sound like a good combo. I thought the W6 could handle more.

How much are you planning on spending on the pair of w6 and the RF amp?

i can get the 851S for about $270.

i can get the 12w6s for $150-$175 a piece. i don't even know if that's a good price as i can't find a good seller of these on the internet....

If those are the 12W6v2 then that is a great price. If they are just the older 12W6 then it is an OK price and they are only rated for 300w RMS.. You can't find a good internet seller of JL because JL does not authorize the sale of its product on the internet. Any sellers you find are not authorized dealers.

The 851s will be a good amp. You won't need more power than that.
