ok so im using my kenwood 600watt amp to power my 1000watt pioneer sub, its bridged, im using 12gauge wire for the speakers and ground.

so its really hot so i know its not set right so what settings should i use. and should i use the cap i have?

heres some pictures

what its looks like

the connections battery, ground, speaker(speaker wire is 12gauge, Ground is 12gauge as well)

heres the settings(Filter:OFF, Operation:Stereo, Sensitivity:0.3)

set the filter to LPF, that sub is getting a full range of freq. turn your sensitivity down to min for a 2v input (your headunit puts out a 2v for the RCA). make sure your power and grounds are 8g..speaker wire isnt going to cut it. your amp is getting hot cause that ground wire is way too small. operation should be set to mono since youre running a sub not a pair of speakers

ok so i need to get 8 Gauge wire for my ground turn the the filter to LPF and sensitivity what should i set it to by label on my amp im not that fermiliar with what you said to turn it down too.

You need to use the same ground size of the power wire.. It should also be set to mono and LPF on. That should be at least 8awg, i think it is. Set you gain with a DMM.

Does your Subs impedance match your amps requirments?

a lot of people confuse a gain knob with being a volume knob but really its power input. youre supposed to match it up to what your headunit has for an RCA output. most headunits have a 2V RCA output, therefore you set your amp to 2V. in this case, setting it to "Min" would achieve a 2v input.

check out this site for wiring: knukonceptz.com

the amp can handle this,

Audio System

Sound Output Mode Stereo

Response Bandwidth 5 - 50000 Hz

Signal-To-Noise Ratio 100.0 dB

Max Output Power / Channel Qty 200 Watts x 2

Continuous Power / Channel Qty 100 Watts x 2

Input Channel Qty 2.0

Output Channel Qty 2.0

High Level Inputs Yes

Input Signal Voltage 0.2 - 5V

Crossover Channel Qty 2

Crossover Slope 12.0 dB/octave

Low Pass Frequencies 80 Hz

Amplifier Output Details 150.0 Watt - 2.0 Ohm - 20 - 20000 Hz - THD 0.8 % - 14.4V DC - 2.0 channel(s) , 100.0 Watt - 4.0 Ohm - THD 0.08 % - 14.4V DC - 2.0 channel(s) , 300.0 Watt - 4.0 Ohm - THD 0.8 % - 14.4V DC - 1.0 channel(s)

Soft Start / Quiet Turn-On Yes

Additional Features Gold plated connectors

my sub can handle this,

Peak: 1000 watts

RMS: 200 watts

Impedance: 4 Ohms

Sensitivity: 95 dB

Frequency Response: 20-180 Hz

heres all the specs i pulled of the site,

10" Champion Series Car Subwoofer

RMS: 200 watts

Impedance: 4 Ohms

Sensitivity: 95 dB

Frequency Response: 20-180 Hz

Single Voice Coil

Urethane surround

Double cone design with reinforcement nodes

Nomex® spider

Projected pole yoke with vented pole

6 Layer, long copper voice coil

Stamped basket with magnet cover

Integrated single-sided spring compression terminals

so do you think i need to upgrade my amp? cause im going to go get the 8 gauge wire but when i have it at min and turn the bass up on my stero it distortes my door speakers. any sugustions?

it distorts your door speakers because the head unit controls everything door speakers and the signal sent through your rca to the amp so turn it up on the stereo and everything goes up

That amp, if wired correctly, already overpowers that sub. It would be pointless to upgrade one without the other. You do understand that is a VERY low power set up?

You bass should be at 0 on the head unit.
