notice how the sides are recessed into the box..99.9% chance they wrap that carpet over the side and screw (most likely brad nail) it together...not a very solid construction imo

I have bought a few prefab boxes off ebay and they turned out to be pretty decent one of them was great. It a gamble could be good or not so good. I would give it a shot. See what happens with it.

i just recently bought 2 2004 alpine type-r's the dual 4-ohm model. 1241D

i had them in a similar box except it was made by subzone and they got loud but didn;'t sound very good, so i spent 25 bucks at home depot and build myself a sealed box that is 2.2 cubes. it sounds great. has great sq and still get loud.

With the sides recessed and the carpet wrapped around it does two things....first the box isn't sealed well most likely, which will cause unwanted noise among other things, and also it means that there is no room for wood glue to form a proper bond which means it's not very sturdy either...

your the moron here , *** , when i saw the recessed panels in the side i thought they made em like i made mine....

than i took another piece of wood , carpeted it and screwed/liquid nailed it to the side , the seal is fine how i did mine and i assumed anyone who built a box with recessed sides did it this way

For $67, you could build yourself a ported box and a sealed box to see which you like better.
