Is the sub about to blow?

I reinstalled my bros RE Sxx with the same AQ1200D amp. Settings on HU and amp are the same.

Now it use to sound fine past volume 20. Gain is set to volume 25... but now when I'm at 18-19 it sounds like complete ****. It sounds awesome 0-17

I believe he loaned it to one of his buddies to try and I'm betting it was clipped.

Any ideas? Look for a recone soon?

What I've troubleshooted: i noticed the spring terminal was loose. i took that out and redid it. still the same. turned gain down. still the same.

maybe lowering ur gains? and turn off bass boost? and any other eq loudness u have on....? lower ur gains and set them properly

Bass boost off on HU and all the way down on amp

Bass levels are down to 0. I set my gains with a dmm and i went down a little just now. still bad :/

He better have the electrical to back it up. If not then get ready to buy a new one.

are u trolling or serious? i heard the aq can be run at .5 but idk about the electrical....just have it reconed to a dual 2 or try picking up another sub?...hmm any vids?

haha no my brother doesn't have the electrical to run .5

It is a dual 2 sub already.

are you asking for vids of the sub?

ya get a vid of it in free air so we can see if we hear anything....wondering if u can hear some sort or messed up mechanical noise....

alright cool. i'll do that as soon as he gets off work.

i just found out his friend played it on a home stereo to try it out. i know its not good for the receiver but i don't think it does any harm to the sub

ya could be air leak didnt think about that...u will hear some strange rattling noises from an air leak...

***** to hear. A good buddy of mine let a kid borrow his subs and needless to say that was a mistake. I can't bring myself to "loan" any of my equipment whether I'm using it or not just for that reason. Plus 75% of audio fanatics honestly don't have a clue of what they're doing i.m.o...

well in my area I would say 95% ...lol

ha wow, the subwoofer is most deff in a box that either has too much air space or too little, what is the airspace on the box you are using?
