Is the box or subwoofer the reason for rattling/bad sq

Ok my friend has 2 12 sony xplods ( i know they arent very good sq ) and they dont sound very good. This is basically the exact thing he has except for the subs are sony xplods

He is going to buy Kicker Cvrs and i am wondernig if he should get a ported box to go along with them or if his box will sound better with cvrs. It seems that the fiberglass rattles a lot and makes the subs sound worse then they actualy do. thanks for your input

Definitely build a new box. That one will make the CVRs sound like poop
