Okay, im getting an RE audio SX 12 from a member on the forum, and decided that instead of using my 2 Memphis M-Class 12's in my new box, i would run a single SX until i can get another and a monster amp to power em. My box is approx 4 cubes net (give or take a lil) tuned to approx 30hz (or a bit lower, not 100% on that). Anyways, is this box too big? Can you GET too big in ported boxes?

it all depends on how much power your going to supply it. generally speaking, the larger the box the more efficient the sub becomes....meaning it takes less power to move it. if the box is too big it can cause the sub to reach the point of over excursion and can cause damage. however, if you only giving it a small amout of power a larger box is needed to achieve the same out come as a lot of power in a small box.

if your only giving it a couple hundred watts you should be ok. just keep an eye on it. when you get you larger amp, you will want to put it in a smaller box.

It will also have more low end than it normally would. It might lose some high end efficiency though and might appear boomy from 45hz and down. Also, my experience with my 240 was that almost everything sucked 60-100hz.
