Is Kicker overrated?

i didn't know a ZX1500 could be run at 1ohm... is that a normal thing? has your amp been modded at all? is it only recommended for electrical that has been at least moderately upgraded (alternator + batts + big guage wire) and last do you ever have issues with over heating, shutting off, protection mode?

Kicker recommends an upgraded electrical system with the zx2500 no matter what impedence.

I know a lot of people have/do run them at 1 ohm. None of the ones that myself or my teammates run are modified in any way. Still has all the protection circuits.

It does get hot, but I've never had it shut down because of that. The only time I've had it go into protect was because of low voltage (jamming full volume with the car off)

To me I think so. Every person where I'm at is all about kicker. As a result, their systems are weak. My friend has beaten a lot of them with his Type E's.

What load is it that Chris' (maybe it was mark, i know one of them was testing what voltage theyd run down to in 06') went into protect at, .5?

when did u ever give me advice and the point is you said for the money difference you can buy cheaper stuff say 2 12's sony xplods on a sony xplod amp compare that to 2 12's kickers on a kicker amp and be louder how explain that i want to kno

You guys are completely out of line...I stated my opinion (in a completely open and non argumentative manner) and am getting burned for it. Just because I am debating with a respected member of the forum does not warrant flaming, especially when I have provided valuable information in the short time I have been on the forum.
Just because I have a low post count does not mean I am a newb...and just because you don't agree with me doesn't mean I don't know what I'm talking about.

What I meant by selling Kicker product is that I INSTALLED kicker product...sorry for the confusion....but that does warrant an opinion on the matter.

Hitler....I don't think the debate is about the power of the amps being overrated....it is about the quality of the product/brand so I am sure the amps put out more power than they state...but thats not what we are talking about. And check online...there is a huge debate on the Solo's...I understand that the square has greater surface area but that doesn't always generate better/louder sound.

I thought mine and Tommy's argument ended on a positive note but you guys took it too far.

Your opinion of Kicker and it's products have been overtaken by us wondering what it took to run their amps at 1 ohm. Personally it was why I did not go with an all kicker amp setup last year. You can run along with your next thread of why *blank* is over or underrated.

Bottom line is Kicker is still a solid product, but there are some brands out now that are better. I am sure they all studied what Kicker and RF were doing though.

You are right....the Kicker stuff will be louder....but for a lot more money...

i stand corrected i did not know that. But i would still be willing to bet out of all the people who buy an L7 maybe 10% have the honest intentions of a sound quality install. All i meant was that the L7 is bought for SPL first and SQ second, but i honestly didn't know the L7 was in any winning SQ setups... do you have a link to the builds or cars? i would like to look at them if you have them

I can dig up more pics. This car has been a consistant winner in both SQ and DTS/Multimedia formats. Food for thought. A lot goes into the building and tuning of these cars. Not just the equipment brand.

The round solobarics were awesome. I also liked the old school comps.

Square solos are not for me though.
