Is Kicker overrated?

Kicker FTW... SOLO X's Subs are insane... They will keep up with anything out there on the market

Obviously you haven't heard any of my setups, or anybody that competes with kicker. Anything you tried to make with sony or kenwood would get it's *** handed to it.
And this is coming from a guy who has used alpine before. Type-r's are good for the money for sure. Some of the best subs I've used. However, type-e's are subpar and the type-'s tended to be real peaky and liked higher frequencys.

I love most alpine headunits (older models anyways) and their new amps are sleek and powerful for the size.

I'm still unsure as to how your opinion got "validated". Did you validate it yourself?

Ok...last post. I never said Kicker wasn't good product...just saying they are overrated. You can get offended and YES I did validate my own opinion... j/k. There are many people that feel like I do...

What I was saying about the Kenwood and Sony stuff is that Kicker is sold right along side those products....you can spend a lot less, right out of the box and have a louder (or just as loud) system. In comps...yes they will win but Kicker isn't sold along with competition product.

Whatever...I'm OUT! Message me if you really want to get into it...but I don't care enough. I just think its funny how I said nothing threatening, AND gave valid points (yeah I said it) yet since you run Kicker you got really offended.

To recap:

Kicker:Overated not bad product

Can get cheaper stuff to be just as loud...

Square subs=gimmick (even if developed by pioneer first)

kicker makes great products.... is there better for the money.... i would say so but thats not what was asked here. he said they are over rated and that they are not. everyone has their low end and everyone has their high end. kickers low ends are one of the best ive ever seen.... kicker comps (preferably the 10s) are the best sub i believe u can find for about 40-60 bucks i mean shit u cant go wrong. havent heard their highs before but ive heard they are pretty good. the amps i believe they are top notch ive heard some actually do get pretty hott but o well they are still good. how can you even compare kicker to sony... i mean shit u can go to circuit city and buy the cheap kicker shit and it would kill anything sony mainly because of the amps because sonys 299 dollar amp at best buy ud be lucky to get 200 rms out of... so good luck with that!

how in the hell can 2 xplods compare to 2 12's l7's

hell 2 12's xplods wont be louder than 2 10's l7's maybe even 8's lol

its not possible man they cant handle that much power

I would say they are under-rated, haha. Their amps are probably their biggest accomplishment. I do have to say that their subs are great (I have 2 12" CVX's and they have never failed me) but you can find better non-mainstream stuff out there I'm sure. I have 3 kicker amps that all put out anywhere from 50watts RMS- 250watts RMS more than they are rated for...Now, their speakers are a whole different story. There are definitely better speaker manufacturers out there, lol.

kicker does have great customer service. right after i installed my system in my blazer the light on my roof leaked. my amps got water in them so i sent them back and got them repaired FREE!I just got my new 08 L7 15's and got a 3 year warranty with square trade so the are covered pass my kicker warranty! Love to blow em!

kicker makes good products for the money and stand behind their product very good, i have never had a problem sending a item back to kicker even if it was my fault and i messed up the sub they still took care of it and sent me a brand new sub with no questions asked, they have excellent CS and the square subs i recall has more cone area so in the same ideal conditions and same sub ratings as in power and sens, and ideal box specs and same vehicle and same power the square would be louder because of the cone area, i recall cone area has alot to do with how loud it can get
and how many guys have won SQ comps with solo x's 18's several guys have so dont come in here bashing a product that is very reliable and is good for the money, and their amps are underrated and do much more power than said to do and its clean good signal too

you try to get 2 12's sony xplod's against my 2 12's l7's on same power 1500rms ohh wait you cant they will only handle 300rms if that give them w/e power u want and u wont be louder than my 2 12's with a sony sub

Kicker amps do in fact, for the most part, put out more than their rated power. I've seen some birthsheets for the zx750's and the zx1500's. Some 750's put out over 100 more than what their rated at. Some 1500's put out over 150 more than what they were rated as well. I agree with you on this one.

I don't think they are necessarily overrated in the sense you are getting at. They are just a MUCH MUCH larger company than others you are referring to. Of course they are going to have more people that love them and hate them, it's the nature of the beast.

I'm not so sure you can get cheaper stuff just as loud. Type-r's are about the only thing I would compare to something like L7's. Type-s's are like L5's/comp vr's and type-e's would be on par with something like comps. Similar power levels and similar requirements.

The solo x trumps anything that the rest of the large manufacturers put out besides maybe the pioneer SPL sub. Kenwood...nothing. Sony...nothing. Kicker is sold along with other competition products. ZX2500's, the warhorse (10,000+ watts...COME ON!), and solo x's are all used in competition. Take a look at any usaci results and you will see that. Hell, most of the guys there run L7's and still clean house.

For the money though, type-rs are hard to beat.

You say you are making valid points, but I'm not? You seemed to avoid some of my previous questions, especially pertaining to wiring.

for the money those cvr's are a good deal esp the 15's they will get loud friend of mine had 1 12's cvrs on prefab kicker box with a powerbass3000d amp on them and hes an idiot and turned the gain all the way up on the amp and they never blew and got loud for the money

i think their products are of a good quality, i think the L7's sound quality is none existant, but you don't buy L7's for sound quality and in the proper enclosure they are very loud, their amps put out rated power, as far as clean or dirty i have no idea, only heard the class D's. according to the big 12 challange over on ROE, the cvx is actually a decent SQ driver while still getting loud. I understand what you mean by mainstream, but its just like JL... if you go into circuit city its got the highest sticker price... so it MUST be the baddest stuff around. and everyones got a friend of a friend of whoever who supposedly has the LOUDEST system in town and runs kicker

and actually alot of people mistake l7's for having no SQ in the right enclousre and tunning they sound great and have won several comps
