The Jaguar X Type is built on the Ford Mondeo platform.
I personally do not like the X Type for the same reason I don't like the C Class, because in my eyes they're not really... a Jaguar... Simply because they're what people who can't afford a Jaguar but want to pretend they can buy. But being a car enthusiast, my opinions are a little harsher.

I stand corrected. But I agree 100%. My Father taught me the same way. I don't like them for the same reason. He always called them the poor man's jag.

I don't think so on the taurus part. I have a 94 taurus. My dad had the 02 XJR until this year and now he has an 08 Taurus. I've ridden in the baby jag's too - they all have a very nice ride. I would not get one though because of labor and because well.So many things went wrong with the XJR and it was supposed to be their flagship car. I still liked it - but I wasn't paying the bills.

EDIT: They are on the lincoln ls platform. Wow. Have also had an 00 LS v8. Also a nice ride!

EDITEDIT: In case your wondering. Ford sold jaguar just this year.

this X-Type is built on the Countour/Escort format. the radio harness and kits are interchangeable. speakers/dooranels are identical in mounting like an escort. drivetrain is a bit different, but the thing is an escort at its heart. for $16K, get a cobalt ss or something. their fast and parts are easy to find.

S-Type also uses Taurus kit, harness, same bypass. alarm installs similar. built like a ford at jag prices
