is it ok to use 18 gauge to wire sub ?

i want to use 18 guage to connect my L7's voice coils to the terminals on box, then use 10 or so gauge to connect from terminals to amp, is this ok? dont ask why im just workin with what i got, so is 18 guage ok for the subwoofer? on a hifonics bx1500d

the bigger the better, i have seen people use 4ga...idk if it helps or not. i have 10ga all round.

I wouldnt use it but if its the only wire you have left then go for it.

I use 10 guage from my subs to my box, and 8 guage from the box to the amp.

just got off work, i dident notice it being much louder although it does shake everything alot more, but my neighbor came out before i could push the gain more than 1/2 way and said i must be doing something right if he heard it inside his house across the street

18 Gauge is more than enough, by far.
