its all about how you make it out to be. If you put in your time, do good custom work, have good people to work with, know how to market, then you will do just fine.
I used to work at a shop that did great work, unfortunately he made the place into his friends/family/customers hang out, and he would just chat and have a good time 1/2 the day. Could have made it big if he put his mind to it. He also had one of the best custom installers in the area working for him at the time, but he left because of the shops... "seriousness"
