Is 4 gauge speaker wire really necessary?

I am looking at possibly getting the CADENCE F100-5 amp and people on Amazon are saying its rated for 4 gauge wire, and a chart I looked at said that for running 75 watts RMS I need 4 gauge wire.

Can 12 gauge wire be used on the amp? What should I look for that will work with it?

Thanks, but do I need to buy a 4-gauge power cable seperatly?

Is something like this kit necessary?

Some amps on eBay say things like: 4-gauge power and ground wiring is required for installation. Contact us for information regarding a discount on select amplifier kits when purchased together with this amplifier.

amps wont come with power wire. If you already have rca's, fuses, and speaker wire, you dont need a kit, you only need to buy the power cable. If you need everything you can buy the kit or get it all separately and most likely end up with better quality.

Thanks for the link 40oz, I'm looking at this kit and its for a 4 channel amp, while mine is a 5 channel. Sorry for asking this is kind of dumb, but what else will I need in addition with this to wire the sub?
No problem bro.

Your gonna need another set of RCA cables since it is a 5 channel. Grab the Klarity RCA's from Knu as well, good quality for the price and it will match the RCA's in the kit your looking at. I have the same kit in my ride, best bang for the buck definitely.
