Hey everyone, i am about to install my new setup so i wanted to see what you guys though..

I will be hooking up 3 amps. (Kenwood Excelon X521, X811D, X811D) (180amps worth of fuses between all of them) however i will only be running them all at about half power.. as otherwise it would blow all my speakers/subs.

So i am going to run wire from my batttery to a distro block then 4awg to each amp..

The distance from the battery to the distro will be around 15ft.

Is 2awg big enough to run from the battery to the distro?

Then also for the grounds can i just run a 4awg ground from each amp to a single ground point? Or do i need to run the grounds into a distro and then ground a Big wire?

Thanks,

i would go with 1/0 guage wire to the distro block. it is better to go big from the begining then you have it in case of upgrades. also running 3 amps on 2 guage is a little much. as for grounds you can ground each amp seperately to a spot on the chasis or a distro block with an upgraded main wire will work. if you are looking for cheap wire check here: http://stores.ebay.com/Genuine-Cable-and-Power_Welding-and-Battery-Cable_W0QQssPageNameZVIStoreHeaderLinksQQtZkm

so the fuses in your amps will add up to about 180 or do you have an inline or wafer fuse after the distro block before each amp? in most cases bigger is best just to make sure you getting the most you possibly can out of your system however its not necesary your plan should be just fine. i ran 4 gauge to my xxx 15 with 1800 watts going to it had a 180amp wafer fuse under the hood no problems.

Oh always whats the difference between

2awg and 2/0awg?

1awg and 1/0awg ?

I have heard it before like people saying 1 odd gauge.. But whats the difference?

Thanks,

sorri to jack you thread man...just a quick question....if i am running 2AWG wire with a 150 AMP wafer fuse for 2 Profile CA600MSX amps that have 3x20amp fuses will that be enough amp for the fuse?

i am also gunna run distro block for the power but can i also do that for the ground?

goingpro,

yea you can do that for the distro, and yes 150 is enough as your amps fuses would only equal 120amps at MAX draw..

Haha your on FTW as well right? Im a member of the cali chapter and remeber you posting up and seeing your navi..

ya man...nice to see you over here i love the Cali Chapter though everyone is hella cool there....thanks man i thought it might work but just wanted to make sure thanks for your help man
