is 0 gauge and 1/0 gauge the same ?

as the title says i know it may sound stupid and i really should know this but is 0 gauge the same as 1/0 gauge?

or is the 1/0 considered 1 gauge ?

also there are different 0 gauge thicknesses like 3 times 0 of 4 times 0

how r those written?

Im pretty sure that from smallest to largest it goes:

8/0 = 8 gauge

4/0 = 4 gauge

2/0 = 2 gauge

1/0 = 0 gauge

Correct me if I am wrong someone.

Depending on who your talking to then yes.

Also there are some stuff used in welding called #1 #2 and #4 gauge, which is not the same as 1/0 2/0 4/0 etc.

3/0 = 3 'ott'

etc.

1/0 = smallest

3/0 = largest on that list

ty. Any idea how that #1 stuff that some welding wire is, I bought some about 5 years ago, and it was smaller than 1/0 I don't remember exactly how it worked though.

Just realized your from Brazil, they may have different standards then here in the US.

But here in the US, that is not the way it is.
