as the title says i know it may sound stupid and i really should know this but is 0 gauge the same as 1/0 gauge?

or is the 1/0 considered 1 gauge ?

also there are different 0 gauge thicknesses like 3 times 0 of 4 times 0

how r those written?

thanks.

Well the first number is how big it is. the second number is the strand count.
so 12/2 is 12 guage with one pos, and one neg

No?
No, it's as Chad said..

1/0 = ott'

2/0 = 2 'ott'

3/0 = 3 'ott'

etc.

1/0 = smallest

3/0 = largest on that list

the /0 has nothing to do with strand count

ty. Any idea how that #1 stuff that some welding wire is, I bought some about 5 years ago, and it was smaller than 1/0 I don't remember exactly how it worked though.

Didn't mean to say strand count. Like /2 would be two conductors. so like 12/4 would have 4 cable, and they would all be 14 guage.
Just realized your from Brazil, they may have different standards then here in the US.

But here in the US, that is not the way it is.
