Ipod car adapter

Hey guys,

Question about an adapter for a Mazda 6. I know they have the FM transmitter ones that are pretty cheap but I think they have adapter that plug right into the back of a factory Head unit, correct(AUX input)? What are the pros and cons?

Does you HU need to be capable to play MP3's? and is it worth the money? Should I just go with an FM one?
