Inverting Subs DOES Matter!

There goes ng again with his infinite words of wisdom. Thanks again for another pointless post!!
Posting something, MULTIPLE times, saying it is 100% the truth... when you have no idea what you are talking about... and in fact it is NOT the truth... qualifies you as an ignorant tard.

kthnx.

So if you think about it if a sub is in the trunk and your midbass is in the front door your looking at about a 5 foot difference.
It's 12 feet from my sub to my doors //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

how do we know you even know what lows sound like and what higher freqs sound like? IIRC by inverting your sub youd get the result of having a little bigger box. and IIRC having a little bigger box will give somewhat of a greater low frequency extension with less high end? so maybe ur sub is going lower than it was before but due to your crossover its not as loud.. or maybe your sub cant handle the low and it sounds inaudible to you and you hear the punchinesss. shut up.

doesnt wiring the sub in different phase shift its timing and has nothing to do with which way it begins moving? or does it shift the way its moves and has nothing to do with timing?

Well ng I would love for YOU to point out what is wrong with what I said. And show me how I have no Idea of what i'm talking bout. Then maybe I wont think of you as a worthless piece of shit any longer.

It changes the way it moves and has nothing to do with timing. It has to do with relative phase.

Now, where you might be getting confused is that adjusting the phase can have approximately the same affect on the sound as changing the timing (such as using time alignment) in that it may help center up the imaging, blend better with the rest of the system, etc. But the two are not the same.

With reversing the phase, you are adjusting when the subwoofer moves in and out in relation to the signal (this is absolute phase). This, in turn, will affect the subwoofer's acoustic phasing with the rest of the system (this is relative phase).

With time alignment, you are physically delaying when the sub (or speakers) responds compared to the rest of the speakers in the system (i.e. it might be delayed by 1ms). But the absolute phase, when it moves in and out in relation to the signal, does not change.

Good read on the subject;

Not a problem...

You do not need to change the wiring on the subs. You are correct they move the same in both directions no matter which way they are wired. The difference in sound you are hearing may be comming from the difference in airspace you created in the box. By inverting the subs you added more air in the box by eliminating the air that is displaced by the back of the sub. But it should not have made it quieter.
Completely incorrect. The difference in volume will be negligible, or inaudible, most speakers displace less then .15cubes. At the most.

If both subs are facing the same way. It does NOT matter which way they are wired as long as they are the SAME!!
Completely incorrect. To keep the system in phase, or just to keep the system the same way it was playing before... you must reverse the polarity when wiring the subwoofers.

If you don't, what used to be the subwoofer diaphragm moving OUTWARDS in respect to the enclosure... will NOW be the subwoofer diaphragm moving INWARDS in respect to the enclosure.

This is to keep the system's phase the same in regards to how it was non-inverted.

Kthnx.
