So i have a job interview at a place that i worked at 5 years ago, and I was sadly fired after my first year because i was busy with highschool, votech, basketball, and i was graduating in a few months trying to wrap up my senior project. I ended up calling off alot due to this.

I applied at this place just for shits and giggles, and they actually called me for an interview. How do i go about saying "yeah, i worked here 5 years ago when i was 17 and in high school, and i got fired"? I would love to work there, because its easy work and decent pay with good hours, and i am more then overqualified for the position.

any advice for this?

well, you said you applied for shits and giggles, so the only advice i would say is to shit and giggle....lol. j/k

if you werent that serious about the job, then no worries. go in there, and be yourself, and have fun with it. if you get, you get it, if not, well then fock em!

Interesting...

I can suggest 2 things:

- Don't mention that you worked there before *at all* but tell them you had experience working at a similar job

- If you think you are overqualified for the position, this can work against you. Down-play it if it comes up in the conversation(s)

Best of luck!

just tell them the truth. you were an immature kid, who made mistakes. heck its 5 years later, and you were in school before. they should understand, and at least give you a chance.

Go in late, Forget dressing nice wear some jeans with more holes than jean, with an oil stained shirt. Also before you go slam a 40 of king cobra and carry the empty bottle in the room at with you will interview. Once you go to get introduced belch in his/her face before they get a chance to introduce them selfs. Then the job is yours no doubt

Your best bet is to bring it up yourself. Explain that you did work there, things didn't work out due to personal life and then focus on the positive things you learned (what you did, what you still know) ask questions like "do we still do ....yadda yadda yadda" Even if they say no it lets them know that you were serious enough to remember some of the details.

Also, explain to them that you have graduated, work is a priority and figure out some short term goals for work.

I do a good amount of interviewing here, and its easy to steer a conversation to positive if you take some control. It all shows the interviewer that you are not just answering questions, but rather taking initiative. Thats all companies really want.
