internet not working

came back from the beach, and my mom and dads pc's in the office arent getting internet. all others work. the modem is upstairs, main ethernet wire from the modem is ran through the walls downstairs to their office.

that main wire is plugged into a router, which from there, 1 wire goes to my moms pc, and another goes to my dads.

well the main wire direct into either pc works. its the router that isnt sending both PCs the signal. i went and bought a new router, still happening.

i pinged the default gateway, and neither of the 2 PC's are even talking to the router for some reason. ive tried restarting, unplugging, etc. i dont know what the hell is causing this.

anyone?

is it verizon's problem though is the question.

the wire from the verizon modem plugged into PC works...its when its in the router, then router to the pc, its not getting the signal from the router, and ive tried multiple routers.

unplug the modem and the router for 10 seconds, and restart the computers

then go into a command screen ( start>run>cmd) type ipconfig

is it assigning that pc an IP?

if no, then type in ipconfig/release all

now type in ipconfig/renew all

still having an issue? call verizon and see if they have a dns server down or issues....

ill try that. ive tried reseting router/modem/pc's already

but all other pcs and laptops on the modem work, just the 2 in my parents den, off of the Linksys router

guy at work told me this happened to his out of no where about a month ago, he said he uninstalled the linksys drivers/etc, and put the cd in and reinstalled, and it worked

ill try that when im home, hopefully thatll work

the power did go out when i was at the beach over the weekend..just weird that this router just stopped talking to the pc's..

Ah, with a power outage it really doesn't surprise me.

I'd shut down the whole network. Then unplug the wires at the router. Turn on the modem, let it aquire its signal then turn on the router, then after it is working turn on each pc one at a time.

linksys says since the power went out, my router needs to be reconfigured. i logged into the router, but i dont know what to change. anyone know? my ISP is Verizon (fios)
