Cone excursion becomes more and more important in vented systems as the signal material deviates further and further from the enclosure's tuning point. While its not nearly as important in vented systems as sealed ones, I would not agree xmax means as much as the chrome on the sub in them either.

You might be the first person I have ever seen who indicated the W7 is "much" preferred to the w6v2, sq wise. Many flat out think the w6v2 sounds better.
I think my w6v2 is very impressive in a sealed box(I have never liked ported boxes anyway). Everyone else who has heard it loved the sound as well. Everybody's ears are different.

IF THIS IS TRUE WE HAVE GOT TO GET THE WORD OUT. $500 FOR A RECONE. THEIR REPAIR SERVICE MAY BE GOOD, BUT WHOSE WOULDN'T FOR $500?

its not 500, its like 250 for a 13w7 recone, and it comes back warrantied iirc.

and fancy, the eD amps are not rebadged/rehashed hifonics amps, no matter where you read it its not true.

ive dealt with eD about 5-6 times, perfect, awesome customer service.

ed sound deadning = shit

ed amps = avonixx, kicker insides

look at how many people have had problems with ed deadning falling off, and how many people have their nine 2's and 4's overheat. These internet companies come and go so quickly, what happened to adire? werent tempests, shivas and brahma's the hot thing a year ago? and now no one even mentions them. You see all of these posts about how fabulous the type r's are and you wonder if there are more subs like that in the mainstream market.

1. You're right that eD is basically rebadged products, and their customer relations blow...but not everything of theirs deserves that. I'm sure owners of the 12a or O series and older K series can agree with me.

Adire does more than just build car audio subwoofers. That's a small portion of their over-all business actually, they didn't go anywhere.

Buy what sub(s) work for you, who ever makes them.

As Jack said....Adire redesigned their entire lineup of subwoofers. That takes time. And coupled with a few other things Adire had going at the time.....yes, it has been a little bit since Adire has had products on the table. But that will change...soon.

Also, one thing that needs noted is that Adire is not an "internet company". They are actually an OEM design and now buildhouse aswell. You, the consumer, only see a very small portion of the work Adire is actually doing behind the scenes. Selling their own car audio equipment is a fairly small portion of their overall business. They could stop that portion of their company all together and still be a striving business for years to come. Adire isn't going anywhere, even if they haven't had a wide product selection in recent months.

Honestly.....not to sound rude; But it sounds like the main source of your grievances with "internet companies" is due to your own misconceptions and lack of understanding and knowledge of how the industry works, both in small scale and large scale.

I don't think that ever was an issue...at least, that's certainly not worth arguing about. Mainstream companies of course can build as good or better of a product as underground firms - however, usually that same quality comes at a higher cost to the consumer.
