Ok, here's my dilema

1: My amp has 8ga wire comming from it.

I'am running 4ga positive from the battery.

Instead of a DB, can I buy a capacitor and wire the 4ga to it and then have my 8ga positive wire from the amp connected to the cap??

2: if not.. I will need a DB. since its a 8ga wire comming out of the amp

If I get a DB block with 4ga in and 8ga out will I need to get a DB for my ground also,4ga to 8ga? As the ground must always be as big or bigger the the power right?

My 8ga wire will be no longer than 2 feet out of the amp

3: And If I get both a cap and DB... where should the cap be? between the DB and AMP or before the DB? will I be able to run the ground wire from the amp the the - negative terminal on the cap which will be grounded with a 4ga.?

buy a dist. block -- it's cheaper than a cap. The cap won't do much for you if you got it

what kind of amp are you using?

I just want a clear answer to my questions..

buy a dist. block -- it's cheaper than a cap. The cap won't do much for you if you got it

I will be running 1ohm which should give me 400 RMS on Alpine R DVC 10"

Forgot to mention I listen to rock, so not alot of heavy bass driving.. more of SQ than SPL

2 - Get a DB, you can get a DB that is 1/0 in, and 4 awg out, or 4awg in and 8awg out. (the 1/0 and 4 out would be if your planning any upgrades down the road)

Ground MUST always be the same or bigger. So get a NON Fused distro block, with 4awg in, and 8awg. If your amp only takes 8awg a 4awg wire wont be good, it will be prettttty big near your power, if they touch wont be good //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

3 - If you get a cap & DB, cap should be as close to the amp it would be connected to. If you really want a cap, i have a PG 1 farad fs 40$ plus shipping. I don't use it at all. no room for it.

Like what the guy said above, just buy a distirbition block bro. On ebay, they are good and pretty cheap.

If your meaning that I will have 4ga ON the amp.. no it wont be like this..

Yes, just get 2 DBs.. 1 fused 4awg in, 8 out. 1 none fused at the same
