(installers) Got any pics of the worst installs you have had to fix/redo

i've had some customers that say one of their amps isnt turning on, and they want me to fix that problem. i take a look at the CLUSTER **** in their car, call them back, and tell them very politely and honestly that I am going to have to take everything out and re-do everything. its going to take a long time and cost a lot of money but its better than me fixing one thing and something else happening.

(the truck im thinking of was like a nissan hardbody with at least 3 amps, speakers hanging EVERYWHERE, and wire seriously all over)

they usually decline and take it to someone else to continue the vehicle on its sad audio decline

well fellas got another one in today a early 90's saab turbo, the customer just bough the car and said only one speaker worked........so i was like here we go again. the customer only wanted a pioneer deck installed but was in for alot more

Here is what i had to stat with

bad ford kit install and EQ install is never a good sign

Once i pull the radio out, they didnt even use the volkswagon harness adapter?

I guess they never though to look and find the factory amp and just catch the output that way so they drilled in the door and side skirts to run the speaker wire into the doors. instead of catching power at the harness they tapped off at the fuse box??

making some progress, and fished out the factory and untouched wiring harness from behind the dash

I have installed a system in a saab and believe me it is not that easy. There was no wiring harness for it and there was not dash kit for it either. It was a 1997 Saab 900se turbo.
gotta use a volkswagon harness and like the benz you switch the acc and 12volts

TOUCHE!!!!

When i got my 2005 Saab 93 Linear Turbo i realized i was in for a mess. EVEN HERE AT CA.COM no one could chime in to help out with ANYTHING includinf the Mostnet optical system, the fact there is no existing dash kits or anything. No one even responded saying that they did not know anything.

The guys at saabcentral have figured the system out to a degree but still is trial and error,, since 2003.

in the case of newer saabs, you need to be ready to fabricate a tiny bit on the dash and not be scared to run a completely parallel system. Those guys that try to find a faster and easier way, end up spending 10 times the time and 10 times the money.

Good thing about the newer Saabs.. 140amp alternator though!!!!

apparently, when saab was owned by the swedes as well as by GM they have tried to do everything in their power to make aftermarket audio upgrades as difficult as possible.
i know right using a ford dash kit and a volkswagom harness is never what i would have guess the first time i did one years ago

You know, some of these pictures look like they came straight out of the install gallery here //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Easy or difficult, if that I really hope that Saab was not done at any audio shop. Yes some of them are a pain in the balls to work on, but still if you are going to attempt to do something at least try to make it work by going about it the right way, ya know?
