installed premier 860mp and a few things happened

well i just installed my pioneer premier 860mp a couple days ago in my 98 ford escort. the sound is amazing and i just love it. but there's a few things that i don't think is right on my car. 1)every time i turn my car off and turn it back on, the memory and all my eq is reset. i'm wondering why it does that. i program a station in the presets, and then i turn it back on, and it's not in my presets. so is there a wire not connected right or what? 2)i also noticed that the remote for my car doesn't work for about 5 seconds after i get out of my car half the time after i installed this. so i can't lock my car with the remote for 5 seconds. what's up with this? maybe it's the battery? idk. but all this stuff started happening after i installed it. and btw i have it grounded to a piece of metal and a factory screw right below the dash behind a trim panel just fyi. i'm pretty sure all my wires are connected right. i looked at the wiring diagrams for the aftermarket dash kit and the diagram for the priemer at the same time making sure i was connecting the wires right. can anyone give me any suggestions on what it might be or lead me in the direction of what you think it is? i appreciate any and all help. and yes, i bought it authorized with 2 year warranty.

you probably mixed up the ACC and constant power wire. switch those and your memory presets should be fine.

dunno about the second problem. sorry //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

maybe. i hope you're right. cuz i really don't wanna have to mess with the eq everytime i start my car and reprogram my presets. (even tho i listen to cd's mostly) but i hate having to change the background every time too. oh well. thanks for the advice. anyone else have an idea about the second problem?

I hope you are joking.....
lol why? wire them together and connect to the 12v+ of the battery... is there something wrong with that??? i did that on my moms car so i dont have to turn on the electrical ignition to listen to turn on the radio...

seriously. did i do somethign wrong??? what's wrong with that???? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

it's possible to run both yellow and red wires directly from the battery but whats wrong with that is, every time you get on your car, your going to need to turn it on and then when your getting out, your going to need to turn it off by hand.

that way radios have the ACC power. so when you start your car the radio turns on and whe n you turn off your car the radio turns off.

but it up to you

how do you turn the H/U completely off? doesnt it still display time or something with the car off?

Remove the faceplate or press and hold source (on most HU's anyway).

For a constant power source just splice into the positive lead on the cigarette lighter.

hey guys thanks for those who responded. i found out i had my acc and 12v constant wires mixed up. i switched them and everything is ok. and i don't seem to have any problems with my remote anymore. but now i have another thing. me and my friend were taking out his stereo in his car and putting his kenwood in in place of the panasonic. well, while stripping the wires, the ground and the 12v constant wires touched and sparked. so after hooking the kenwood up, it didn't work. so we proceeded to put the panasonic back in and that wouldn't work either and it worked prior to taking it out that day. also his dome light doesn't seem to work. the fuse on the wire harness was still good. the radio fuse was still good too. any possibilities as to what may have happened? did those wires touching ground something out? thanks for your help

oh dude... you must disconnect the battery cables before messing with any cables in your system... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

you probably only blew the HU fuse thou, go get it replaces.. cheap fix

not the hu fuse- the car fuse.........

checked the headunit fuse. was still good. the radio fuse in the fuse box under the dash was still good. idk what else it could've been. but my friend's rather impatient and i think he has add. it's like when we start something i ALWAYS end up having to finish it cuz he gets bored adn doesn't care whether it be my car or his car. anyways. all i kno is to check all the fuses in the car. even the amp won't turn on.
