installed my system but not impressed.

ya im going to check everything before i buy a new box. ill try tunning it with a 60 hz test tone this time and see if any thing happens. i got the sealed box for 30 bucks from bestbuy it was on sale usually 100. so if i need a new box im only out 30 dollars so its not to bad. thanks for all the suggestions so far.

its sealed.u need more power or go ported
Something else is wrong. There's no reason he shouldn't be getting massive output from those drivers in a sealed enclosure with the amount of power he's running. I get plenty of output from one 12 sealed with only 300 wats.

ha ya i wish i could build my own. but for me to buy all the tools it would not be worth it for a one time deal.

so i'm thinking of getting that box from circuit city and see if the box is the problem. i hope it is. i check all my wiring over again, and all it really could be is the box at this point so i'm hoping tomorrow after work ill pick it up and see what happens.

ya i think im going to have someone on here build me a box, just dont know who yet. thinking about bjfish11 looks like he does some great work.

what do you guys think would be a good air space a tunning for the 2 12 inch CVR's?

go in steps

take a batt(9v for example) and pop the speakers to make sure they are inphase(both pop out or both go in) or unplug 1 sub and see if it gets louder

unplug 1 side of the rca, swap and unplug the other side- to make sure both rca's are good

make sure the crossover isnt set too low or the subsonic to high(if equipped)

dont be scared with the gain per say, if its a sucky unit you will need alot more gain on the

amp

check voltage back at the amp and make sure its ~12.5 with car off and atleast 13.5 with it on

these are just some things i check when people come in the shop and something isnt working right

even in a sealed box those CVRs should be doing pretty good, but a good box will help tons

What kind of voltage is your hu putting out? I mean i assume you tried turing the gain all the way up to see if it would go louder and it didn't? Maybe the amps just arent getting enough preout voltage from the hu...
my HU puts out 2 volts. i don't have the gain maxed out, i set it with a DMM to 40 volts. im afraid to turn it up all the way. but i mean i know it should be louder than this. assuming everything is wired correctly which i have check mutlipe times now. unless it is because the HU only puts out 2 volts but i doubt it so i may just get a better box and see what happens. im still going to go over everything tomorrow before i spend money on a new box.

go through the list i made and check that stuff, ive always hated that dmm gain setting stuff, it isnt hard to set it by ear, just need to listen for distortion and common sense on what the sub can handle, even look at it and see

but dont be scared to turn the gain up, your not gonna immediately blow them even with gain maxed out
