Install shop changed prices on me

i help install peoples systems for fun, i just installed a friend of mines system in his Lancer, took me about 3-4 hours (we fvcked around alot) and he hooked me up wioth a fat discount at macys
its not all about the money yo
It IS about $$$ to a shop that has to pay employees, operating expenses, etc...

i never knew installers had pHd's.you also pay your plumber $85/hr?
My dads shop goes for about 125$ an hour //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

A plumber isn't the same as a "handy man" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

even having a set salary at my old shop, I still worked off commission

and you bet your *** it was about making money. I did a shit load of work.

you helped your buddy for fun like you said, thats different then actually working at a shop.

I would subtract all the equipment off of the original quote and whatever was left, is what I would be willing to pay. If my math is right should be $410.00, and like the other guy said shouldn't need 0gauge for this amount of watts. Start mentioning price gouging and better business bureau and see if they don change their tune;)
NOT this post!^

And with around 1300 rms watts of Kicker power he needs 0ga.

You are just trying to justify your own high prices. I wouldn't pay more than 300 to get that stuff installed and that's ridiculous to me. Plus wires. I would do it for 50$. When its cheaper to fly someone out to do your install, you know your in trouble.

I'm not doing the work as he lives in Philly and I'm in Oklahoma, but you keep rockin the $50 installs and I'll keep fixing them when the **** up!

And with the price of fuel, he'd be better off paying the grand. But as I said in my OG post, it would be $300 plus wires at our shop.

Just because I work cheap doesn't mean the Work is cheap. I enjoy building boxes and doing installs. I was pointing out a plane ticket is cheaper than what they are charging him. Not recommending it.

Yeah, I'm no fan of Kicker, but they need the proper juice just like your favorite amps need.
I was just giving you shit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Because 1300w is 1300w. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I understand that it is your job, and you need to charge accordingly when it is a job.

1000$ seems very excessive, 600$ seems like a little much too. But seriously people who are saying 50$.. You can't make a living off charging 50$ an install... That's why there i no comparing your price and his price..

Someone who owns a shop would say that, and I would assume your shop is the type to price gouge when a guy doesn't buy all his equipment through you guys. 2 gauge would be quite sufficient in this application. I do all my installs, I would not pay these high rates for the installs. I understand it is a business and you have to make a living, but the shops I have ran across try to make up slack on each install.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
If you call 10 bucks more per unit than if you bought it from me gouging, then yes.

Radio if bought from us=$45

COG radio=$55
