Ok here is my rant... I was having a system install at my audio shop which I had a lot of stuff installed before. So at first I was going to buy some equipment from them and the guy wrote me up for a price. Then I told him I'll get my stuff from prior installs and order a couple of things from the net.

Here is what they wanted to install:

Headunit: Pioneer 600ub - $250

Sub: JL 13" w3 - $299.99

Amp: Pioneer 600.1 - $250

Amp: Pioneer 100.2 - $110

Sub box - $100

4 guage amp kit - $50

Install radio - $50

Install both amps - $210

Install Comps - $100

Total roughly 1419.00

Anyway I get in there today and I tell the guy the stuff I got and he's like ok we are good so I leave. about an hour later he calls me and was like yeah I have to use 0 guage wire so I'm like ok, but that's an extra $100 over the 4 guage price. Then he tells me the install will be $1000. And I'm like how in the hell is that possible when I'm suppling all my equipment sub box and all. The only thing they are providiing is the amp kit and labor.

List of stuff I took to them to install that they want $1000:

Kicker CVX 15"

Kicker zx1000.1

Kicker 250.2

Sub Box

Pioneer 700BT

HD radio

Hertz 6.5 comp

Should I be pissed or am I overreacting? BTW this is going into a 99 expedition.

I wish I knew how to install audio but don't //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif . I also think because they know I work a lot and just got two cars within 6 months time (One of them being a BMW). They think all we can charge him whatever. What prices should I be paying to have this stuff install? But most people know if you buy a bmw (rear wheel drive) non all wheel drive you will need another car for the winter.

Well I guess I'll have a big talk with them tomorrow because at that point I needed the install done. Because I'm going out of town for 3 months and I was going to let my girl drive the truck for that time, and the truck didn't have the cd changer so she was stuck with crappy speakers and a tape deck. lol...

But I will let them know if he holds to these prices I won't be coming back and the referrals over the years will end. I can't believe they would do that when since 2000 I've done about 20k with of mods and stuff with them. And I've sent them maybe 20 people for all types of installs from tint, alarm to big systems. I really can't believe this right now.

Find anothe shop. Get the bid for install in writting or do it yourself.

Most shops get tired of people buying thier gear on Ebay, then comming in to get it installed, so they try to **** on the install because they didn't get to **** you on the gear sale. From thier experience there are all kinds of problems with the gear people bring in to have installed, then they are expected to waste thier time dealing with it. It's twice the headache for them for half the profit. $1000 install is them saying "If you don't buy the gear from us, then we don't want to install your Ebay gear unless you throw money at us and give us all blow jobs".

me and my friend did an install just like that on our friend jared's new malibu two days ago, we put in front comps, put sub in box ran all wires, installed head unit, hook up all amps and then we tuned it up quick all in less than 3 hours.

this basic installing is easy work and can be done quick when you know how to work on the car and wheres best to route the wires. you should have a go at it and have a friend that experience help you out and teach ya how while doing it.
