install help on 1988 corolla

im installing a jvc deck in my 1988 corolla , which previously had the stock am/fm stereo unit in it. I found a wiring skematic from installdr. but it does not seem to be entirly correct. i have all of the speaker wires hooked up and the 12 volt hot wire, and ground. when i turn on the car, the stero powersup for about 2 secondes, acts like its ejecting a cd, then turns itself off..... not sure whats wrong. any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Do you have both of the wires needing power connected to appropriate feeds? The red wire is the one that needs switched power if you want the deck to turn on and off with your ignition.

The yellow wire, however, needs constant power not affected by the ignition position so that your clock, the radio presets, and EQ settings remain intact when the car is shut off.

Well I haven't hooked up the red {accessory, or so the skematic on the deck says} up yet. Would you have an idea what the corosponding wire would be on my stock harness? Its a corolla dx model. Also, would that cause turning on, and then turning off problem that I'm having? One would think it would just mess up the time and presets, then again, I'm no expert

easier thing would be is to go to walmart, bestbuy,circuit city or any shop installer. They have the aftermarket plug which fits into factory plug and it comes with wiring schematic and connection points where everything goes. It only cost about $7-10 at walmart. I got mine at walmart and pretty much is almost universal for most toyotas. They have different ones, but they do the toyota ones. ALso you don't have to splice or cut into factory harness wire.

A lot less headache this way in the long run
