Hi

I'm planning on having a large power mono amp (around 3000w rms) to power my two 12" Pioneer 3004 spl subs. I have a mk1 Fiat Punto and I was just wondering whether I would need a second battery and a split relay kit, an uprated alternator or just a new, bigger battery? If so, would a Optima Yellow Top YT S 4.2 Deep Cycle Car Battery fit in the front or can you suggest a better battery for my situation? I ask this because Fiat's have usually weak batteries and I don't want to drain my car daily! If I had to fit two batteries, would I need anything other than a second battery and the autoleads split relay kit? Would the subs be louder/sound better with the extra battery?

Please help somebody as I want to start ordering the right kit straight away!!!

Cheers,

Ben

Where can you buy up-rated alternators from? Would I need anything else on top of a second battery and a split relay wiring kit? What sort of cost am I looking at?
i see that you're located in england. idk what the currency exchange rate is, but if you ordered overseas, you'll usually get slapped with customs fees adn all that bs.

as for ho alts, i'd check out motorcityreman.com, meangrean (iirc), excessiveamperage.com (and there's alot of others).

idk too much about wiring 2 batteries, but there's alot of threads about that, so just do a bit of searching and you should get a basic idea of what's needed/involved for a 2nd battery.

At an average cost of around $200USD for a high ouput alternator (using that figure for reference...isn't a concrete price, tyvm!) you're looking at abut 127.5 pounds sterling (my keyboard doesn't have the symbol for GPB....sorry!) plus shipping and any applicable customs fees and whatnot.

Yup - plenty of others but those three are probably the most common and certainly the most often talked about on the various forums I frequent. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
bennygriffin, :)bigwave:s across the big pond to the United Kingdom)

Welcome to our little corner of the car audio world. Hope you enjoy your stay on the forum and best of luck to you with a 3Kw system in a Punto! Somehow I'm thinking bolstering the charging system in one of those to satisfy the upcoming current needs is going to be an adventure!

i agree with doing the big 3. up grade your current battery. and alternator. adding a second battery will add a larger load to you alternator and it will only increase your play time with the vehicle off.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have found a 150amp HO alternator so that should help and i'm sorting out the big 3. Three packs of soundproofing are also on their way. I want as best sound quality as possible. I have also ordered the new JVC KD AVX2 head unit to help matters. Just one question though, I have two amps and I have both their wiring kits and both connect to the battery. Do you just connect them both at the same point or what? Dumb question probably but most of my friends only have one amp! Will have photos up soon if anyone's interested. The Punto has a great shape for sound quality and has speakers in much better locations than the doors! Cheers,

Ben

you CAN run 2 wires from the + post of your battery, or you could do 1 run of a bigger wire to a distro block which splits into 2 smaller wires (1 for each amp). just makes it easier and cleaner. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
