Inside of Sub box question

I am thinking about redoing my trunk setup (have 1 12" alpine and 2 amps) and I've seen people do something where they have a normal sealed box but have a plexiglass window on the back so you can see the magnet and stuff and then put some LEDs in to make it look better...

Anyways my question is, since you can see the inside of the box when you do this, what do you coat it with or line it with to make it look nicer other than the normal MDF look?

That's what I thought, but I just wanted to be sure. Thanks guys! Oh and one more question. I want to make it so that there is like a baffle (MDF) all the way across the span of the trunk, with the window in the middle and the sub box in front of is basically (or behind depending on which direction your looking) but anyways that way the baffle covers everything except the window where you can see into the sub box. What would be the best way to do this?

Would I just build the box with 5 sides and use the baffle for the whole 6th side (rear of box)?

I love this site. You guys give me all sorts of crazy ideas.

I would have thought that plexi would be too flexible for a sealed box. How thick is the glass you are using for this?

Not very thick (got it from Home Depot), I've heard about problems with flexing and stuff, do you think I'll have problems and whats the disadvantage with flexing? It's a single 12" sub powered by 600 watts rms amp. I've heard some people use lexan but isn't that stuff is kind of expensive? I suppose I could use real glass couldn't I? I got a majority of the box done today, but if the plexiglass I have doesn't work out I can always just swap in some thicker or stronger stuff later. What I did was make the box with only 5 sides and then use the baffle as the back side with a cutout where the plexiglass goes for the window. Anyways here's some pics showing what I've done so far, let me know what you think, but be nice, I'm new at this ;-).

It's hard to see in this photo but the window is there its just not reflecting.

Next to the sub on each side is going to be the amps but recessed behind with windows also and then I'll carpet it all (black) and add some LEDs. Let me know what ya think...

I'm not sure exactly how it works, but I think flexing will take away from the performance of the speaker. Not to mention, when it flexes it will change the air space of the box, and probably rattle loose the silicone, or whatever you will use for a sealant. It might even vibrate. On top of that, you need it to insulate quite well so none of the inside sound escapes the box.

If I were you I would talk to a glass shop and try to get something thicker. But if you have it in there, why not try it out and see what it does.

Other than that the rest looks awesome. That is going to be a sweet looking enclosure. Very nicely done.
