Ingenuity needed

I follow what shredder is saying. Actually makes sense and is logical lol... never tried it though.
63bug : how did you get such clean flares? I tried with 6" and didn't turn out nearly that good
So by these calculations I can put my inner flare up to 2 inches from the rear wall without any port noise?

I bought mine from audible engineering.

Oh cool. Might have to hit them up.

Yes you can do that. But I'm pretty sure it's going to lower your tuning. Just like a slot port close to the back wall. However I don't know how to calculate what it will do to your tuning

I'd recalculate the port area at the rear if using an aeroport. IDK what will happen at 2" clearance... I was only explaining the tutorial... and they were using straight PVC... if you want I can try... I just need the diameter of the rear flare at it's widest point.

I couldn't imagine it wouldn't make much more than 1/2 inch difference if that ..right? I'll just make sure I'm 2.5-3" away from from the wall.. the setups not meant to win any competitions. If I don't get my excat tuning number thats okay. I just want to be close..and want to get loud and move some air.. definitely don't want any port noise.. ill be happy. Will be doing a lot of work to the exterior of this box.. Bondo, primer, sanding, painting. Pinstriping, gold leafing Etc... that would be all for nothing if it don't sound right

I hear ya'... but if it was mine I'd like to tune it to exactly the frequency I wanted and to heck with cutting down the length... Are you sure that you want to change your tuning... I drew a picture that depicts the port as in the tutorial... http://i.imgur.com/FpKIeBS.jpg ... this configuration blew me away!.. I never thought about doing it THIS way... you could stack 11 3/4" ID rings from the back wall to any length you want... those are easy to flare.

Ok now it all makes sense... a port firing into a port... I had no idea that design is what this whole thing was about LOL..i love it. I have enough length without having to use that 13 inch flare on the bottom. .. my problem is if I were to put a 11 3/4" inch on the bottom. The flare for that would be huge. This ports going to have to ride too close to the edge of the box to get that kind of clearance.. each sub each 12.5" .. the port flair has a 12 inch diameter. .. I might have to use an elbow. Or just run a few inches of the port externally. Unless I can find a way to "cleanly" choke down the inside diameter of this port to 7"... nothing on this build has been easy

Wow.. now I see why you were trying to bend it if you can... You really HAVE to flush mount? Can you elevate the baffle just where the port enters with rings and put the port to the rear window side... too much protrusion?.. You only need a little bit!

If you leave the port extended out till it's at the 8" diameter part entering the box... won't that let you center the port between the subs a little better as it is only an 8" hole needed? That should get the bottom flare far enough from the side to use and you'll get to use all your length.

Yeah I was thinking Id have to Elevate the baffle a little bit ..... the port protruding out makes sense to car audio heads. But looks silly to most folks. And i take this car to many non audio car shows idk. I'll get it figured out.

Say what??

Longer length of the port is what lowers tuning.

I HATE giving up!.. If it was me I'd use a port baffle like a simulated rear deck... make it match the window line... angle the port forward just enough to clear at the bottom then glass the whole thing to the box... hot glue it in place then remove it to fleece/glass it all together... it should be very clean this way and flow together... A lot of work tho...

Im not giving up.. just going over my options. Might be easier to hust go external 5-6 inches. Or buy a elbow.. or choke this 8" port to 7- 7.5...or something.
