Informative Speech Ideas?

Well, I am at a brick wall right now. I have to come up with a topic for my communication class tomorrow.

The only stipulation is that it has to deal with a culture, or co-culture. I am talking to the basic college kid. The amount of guys and girls in the class is pretty even. I'm trying to think up a balanced topic that would interest both, however, but its just not happening tonight.

I thought about college students and alcoholism, college students and being poor. The whole culture and co-culture thing is throwing me for a loop...

Please help me!

Seriously, Gay marriage/relationships. It gets a reaction out of anybody. Are they allowed to discuss with yuo as you talk? It would start a debate, maybe get more kudos for getting the class involved?

no, our speech can't be interactive... our teacher said she didn't want to have a feud in the middle of class. She pretty much outlawed abortion, racial issues, and homosexual issues...

I agree on the gay marriage thing... everyone has an opinion...

My roommate suggested that to me, but it doesn't apply to me, so I wasn't that interested, but I do agree that it would be a shit stirrer...

How to properly set gains....from a car-audio culture...just joking. Maybe something about art or something in pop culture you have an opionion on. My girlfriend did something similar on why she hates thomas kincaid. (i don't know who he is, some kinda artist)

If you do a persuasive speech later in the year, do "why you should date 'your name here.'" I did that my soph year along with a power point presentation, loaded with songs and pics taken with my digi cam, GOT A LOT OF laughs!! My prof. also gave me the highest grade in the class!!!! I still have it saved on a cd!! It never gets old!

It was a college communications speech class!! A successful speach is not always a serious one. It's main goal is to be persuasive (or informative or whatever) Some of the best motivational speeches are fun and outgoing!!!

Wow really? Hmm... I thought you meant in HS? Shit, I may have to give that a go around... My biggest problem is being enthused about my speech... but I could definately do it about someone i wanted to date...

It's cool. The reason it was so funny is because I usually don't talk much in class. The rest of my speeches that year were boring and I HATED doing them, but this one, I actually looked forward to doing!

Speech is really the only class that I do look forward to, it is a half way break from calc, and chem and engineering classes... It is the only time I can get up and talk, and not really be bit(hed at about it... I will definately think about that for my persuasive speech coming up.. Thanks man...
