Infinite baffle questions

Hey everyone, i am kinda kicking around the idea of going IB in my 2003 intrepid. I have a few options and they are the following:

1- SS RL-P 15

1- ED OV.2 15

2- ED OV.2 12's

Probably most likely the last. all ED hate aside, i am getting two 12's very very cheap, so i thought i might try it.

I have researched, and i know that i need to seal the back wave off as well as possible. My questions are as follows:

1. I have a rear folding seat, but does IB still work well with the seat folded up? i don't want to have it down.

2. These subs are rated around 600w apiece, but handle much more, so how much should i give them IB?

3. As i understand, i should expect more low low, but less volume. How should these two sound compared to one 13Ov.2 ported with correct wattage?

4. SSF filter needed?

5. What else do i need to know?

thanks!!

This is the wrong board for that question. Not once did you mention: Bass Race, Term Lab, Flex, or Boobies. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

The only thing I can say is don't put them behind a fold up seat. Mount them in the deck.

1) Stil work fine with the seats up.

2) More power is always better just to have it just in case. You never can really tell how much power a sub will take IB unless its been tested and used and even then in your situation it may require less or more. Typical IB installs don't require a ton of power, however my most recent one had subs which were rated at 500 rms each and not meant for IB install and they took 550 rms a piece with ease.

3) hard to compare ported two IB, the sound will not be the same though the IB setup will be much much more sq /musically oriented. You will still get lows, but not boominess as you would with a 40+ hz tune, if you were tune to a lower freq better sq, but the IB setup will still perform MORE like a sealed box.

4) That is still application dependant, however having one can help when you can source the peak frequencies which cause the sub to bottom out, its much much easier to reach that bottoming out area with an IB setup.

5) Make sure there are no leaks with the baffle that you make....

thanks nismos, and without starting another war, i have had a decent experience with ED. Not my fave, but ID built woofers sold by another company is just fine for me.
