Sup guys,
I know the topic of IB subs in the rear deck has been covered a bit, but I had a couple ideas I wanted to bounce off the experts.
Quick background: I have a 2006 Civic Si coupe, which has factory 6.5" rears, as well as an 8" "sub" in the middle of the rear deck. The trunk torsion bars run right under the speakers on the coupe.
My goals are the best SQ/$, while modifying as little as possible, and adding as little weight as possible, cause I like to remain stealth and go fast.
For these reasons I had been planning to just drop a shallow Pioneer TS-SW841d in the factory 8" sub location, seal off the deck with Raammat, and call it a day.
From looking at the specs, though, I'm thinking there is no way this will keep up with, or even extend to lower freqs, than my front stage, which will be RSD's run active off a JL 500/5. Plus I already have those 250+ watts on tap for the sub.
So I'm resigned to doing a little more work than I originally planned, because I don't think anything else is going to fit without ditching the torsion bars.
So, finally, my questions:
1) Would 1 hanging 8" (I'm thinking ID8v3) give me satisfactory output in an IB? Would it be worth the trouble?
2) Could I hang a 10" from the 8" hole if I had a big 1-1.5" thick spacer ring/baffle there? Has anyone done something like this before? Hanging a driver that is bigger than the hole, but w/ enough of a spacer for excursion? I don't want to do any cutting, and I don't really want to add a giant heavy baffle that can't be removed.
3) If #2 is doable, would 3 6's or 3 8's across the back be better than 1 10"?
4) Should I ditch all these plans and just remove my rear speakers and get a box that I can take out when I AutoX? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif
