in the market for a new sub

so i toasted the VC's on my current woofer and its gunna cost almost as much to recone it as i bought it for. id rather save the money and just buy a completly new woofer.

so im stuck between three choices

1) 18" FI BTL. ill be running it with a sundown saz3000D in a ported box, right around 5 cubes.

2) 15" audiopulse axis. again, powered by the sundown saz3000D, ported box and again, probably around 5 cubes or maybe smaller.

3) 15" audiopulse LMS ultra. i figure if i pick this driver up i can run it on a single saz3000D for now, then in the future, either pick up another sundown and strap 'em for 6k watts. or maybe sell the sundown and pick up another 2 amps and strap em for somewhere between 5k and 6k watts.

i have about 5 cubes to work with and can go smaller if need be. id like to go ported, so figure each driver in whatever will work best as far as enclosure specs go.

i honestly dont want to toast the VC on the BTL or the axis. i just did that on the 15" stroker pro, which is rated at 2500w RMS and i set the gains right using the DMM and all and even backed it down a bit from there. im thinking by going with the LMS ultra which is recomended 5000w, i have less a chance of needing a recone since the SAZ3000D isnt putting out 5000w. but now im thinking maybe the BTL or the axis will sound better at say normal power than the LMS being underpowered?

any ideas or thoughts?

the 18 has more cone area and is probably a stronger sub than the 15's, i dont see how you could go wrong with it. I've never used a BTL but hey the guys over here get hard-on's about them all the time so I dont see how you could go wrong.

thast basically why its one of my choices. everybody seems to be liking them a lot. id like to go with the axis or LMS in an 18", but i cant find them in that size.

As big a fan of the LMS Ultra as I am, no way in hell Id buy one. First off, the price. For that amount of money you could buy multiple very high quality woofers that would easily out-perform the single LMS. Secondly, no way Id invest that kind of cash in a driver from a company that may not be around next month.

Stick to the still-reasonably-priced brands like Fi.

I would go with Fi as well.

if.... you could find a LMS ultra in a 18" that would be insane, however the Fi is available and proven.

A mach 5 SPL could also take that kind of power though comes in 15" as the largest.

Or if you have 5 cubes and can afford a lms ultra how about 4 12" SI mags sealed in 1.1 each?

to me FI seems like its the next 13w7. everybodys gunna have one, and thats sorta the reason im leaning away from it. thast the reason i went for the stroker pro to begin with. i couldnt find anybody that had one.

anyway, do you think the FI could take say 2500w to 3000w all day? what about the axis?

and by the way, im open to suggestions as far as woofers go. so if you think theres something out there i should look into. throw it out there.

anybody had to recone an FI yet? whats that run?

and as far as the 4 SI mags in a sealed box, im not really a fan of sealed box's.

actually, you have a link to the SI mags?

there dual 2 ohm, so i couldnt run 4 of em on the amp i have right now. i wasnt really looking to switch up the amp at this point.

on the FI BTL, whats the difference between spl and daily. like whats the difference in the woofer itself and the sound quality?

im still leaning towards LMS as of right now though. i just have to make a few calls and try and find out waht a recone kit goes for.
