In need of some spl help

Which of these 2 would have more spl potential at their rated rms in ported enclosures.

2 Sundown sa-15's (600 rms a piece and 19mm xmax)

Or

1 fi btl n2 18 (2000 rms and 28mm xmax)

I would go with 2 15's...more cone area

2 sa-15's is more cone area but they are seriously underrated so if your only giving them 600 rms a piece they are not going to hit the way you want I'm giving my 2 sa-12's 600 rms a piece and it just isn't enough. By the time it starts sounding like they are getting louder the amp starts clipping so I need to get a more powerful amp.

if your going FI BTL and are worrying about SPL then look at the N3.

that btl's motor is much stronger then the 2 sa's are. then add the fact you can run 4k instead of 2k and you have even more gain.

cone area is not as important as people think

edit: and to add on cone area is not just the size of the cone. you need to add in xmax as well

Yea if i did get the sundowns i would run them at about 800 rms.

What are the "most important" factors that contribute to spl? Rms, cone area, xmax ...sensitivity?

way to many factors.

if your only going to run 800rms to each 15.

mind as well go with the btl n3, and put 2k to it. (if your amp can)

WHAT CLASS OR ORG ARE YOU RUNNING IN? what are you trying to do? SPL boxes are smaller boxes usually. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif a teammate of mine runs 3 sa-10s on a sd12k for spl

depends if you have enough room for air movement and proper boxs.

if you do the sa15s will win with prob bout 1db but you have alotta room for a bigger amp. would do the 2k on the 2 sa15s

My goal is mainly spl but still something that can play music. Do you think the sa15 will take more than 800 rms daily? If so giving each set up 2000 watts which has the potential for more spl? Sorry for asking that type of question but i am just trying to get a better idea of how this works. Thanks

they both have potential to be louder in their own cars and boxes and power and so on so forth. yes the SA-15 will take closer to 1k daily. once again what org and class are you trying to compete in? are you talking on burps or on music for when your talking SPL?
