Im sure tis has been asked 1000 times but CCA vrs OFC?

OKAY, so I know the 100% oxygen free copper is the best way to go, but the price is just killing me, especially when right next to it I see copper clad aluminum for half the price.

I put the question to you, 15 foot run of 0/1 gauge wire, big 3

is the CCA going to be okay?

currently my 2 amps have a max combined current draw of 180 amps

I will eventually add a third amp that will increase that number to 300 amps max draw.

is CCA wire going to be safe? When I add the second amp I am going to add a second run of wire, but I just want to make sure this is done right.

Am I going to see any negative side effects to useing CCA over OFC? Lower voltage etc etc?

or does the CCA just have a lower amp rating?

Thank you in advance.

STOFC is the way to go. silver is a better conductor than copper. To bad they don't make gold wire or something. It's even better. You know what. Maybe you should just run water though some pvc. Water is a good conductor to.
You are horribly mistaken on the rank of conductors. Silver is a better conductor than gold and so is copper. Gold is used on connectors because it doesn't corrode so it protects the contanct is a a good (not great) conductor.

Pure water is an insulator. Salt water is an OK conductor.

To the OP, use the cheaper stuff. You'll never see the max draw from your amps. Fuse to the current rating of the wire and call it good.

anal correction, pure h2o does not conduct electricity.

the only reason I know this is because the natural bridge caverns in new braunsfels texas has a water fountain at the botton that supplies water that is filtered through 100ish feet of limestone and they said the water is so pure it wont conduct electricity.

The connector is only plated with gold. The connector itself is what needs to be maleable. Most ring connectors (the crimp on ones) are plated copper. Copper is maleable like gold but not as soft. The setscrew type are almost always brass for ease of manufacture. As long as the mating surfaces are flat, maleability play almost no role in getting a good connection. The plating layer is so thin that is doesn't do much of anything in that regard. If you're worried about that, get a copper crush washer to put above and below your ring terminal.

The best pure metal conductors:

1. Silver

2. Copper

3. Gold

4. Aluminum

5. Zinc

6. Brass

Note that the differences in these conductors are not cut and dry by any means. We're talking differences of .000000010 (10 NANO ohms) per meter.
