im strapping 2 amps, but how do i wire the subs?

Well i have three ways that i can wire them.

1)Strap amps with mono connector from + to + on subs 1 and 2 to amp 1. And do -'s on subs one and two to amp 2 in the + jack. Then run 4gauge power wire from amp1 to amp 2 on both the negatives.

2)strap with mono connector and run both sub +s to amp 1 and both -s to amp 1, leaving amp 2 with nothing but mono connector/ground/power

3)strap amps with mono connector and wire sub1 to amp1 with +\- and sub 2 to amp two with +\-.

All have been mentioned before, but i want to know if ot makes a difference if i wire them any of thse ways compared to the remaining two. Im not in such a hurry, which is why i want to be properly informed on the wiring.

once again, follow the manual exactly. strapping is not really a genaric thing, and the manufacturer is telling you how to do it to work with the way they designed the amp. strapping another way than what the manual says, can just blow the amp(s) or simply not work. #2 will never work, since you are not actually strapping them without hooking up the output jumpers. the cable is just a control cable, making the master amp controll what the slave amp puts out, so there is no unballance. i don'tr have a manual, but #3 may be the way to sync the amps for equal output, or you may need to use rcas to sync. imho, it's kind of wreckless to tell people there is no risk in strapping, and to do anything but what the manual says for how-to wiring. sounds like you have not done it yet, and you do not fully understand the circuitry. if you have a problem with one amp, it can possibly short out the second. it's just a warning.

Ok so the amp manual explains it the way you told me in the previous post. so if im not mistaken, i will use amp1 for my positives(from both subs) that will go into the +. and for amp 2, the negatives from both subs go into the positive entry correct? Then i connect a 4gauge power wire from each of the negatives on each amp and connect them together? This and a mono connector is all i need to do?This is what the manual calls for, but they only show one sub, i have 2

I'm seriously done here. I'm sorry but numerous dudes have stated what to do(follow the manual). You also need to wire your subs like from the link above, which will leave 1+ wire and 1- wire... one to each amp.

okay well after giving it some thought ive decided that im probably going to do the following:

1) wire both amps(with power distributor on same 1/0 wire to battery

2) rca from HU to amp 1

3) connector from "out" amp 1, tom "in" amp 2

4) the (-) receivers on each amp will be connected to eachother with 4gauge power wire. (no subs will go to these entrys)

5) the (+) from sub 1 and sub 2 will be wired to the (+) on amp 1

6) the (-) from sub1 and sub 2 will be wired to the (+) on amp 2.

This way, amp 1 will take all the (+) from both subs and amp 2 will take all the (-) from both subs.

from what i understand, this is what the manual calls for.

heres the link i was provided for the manual.

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Kicker-KX1200.1-Car-Amplifiers-manual/id/23261ci760/t/2/

the reason i repeat myself is because i THINK I understand what everyone is telling me, but i want to restate to make sure im not missing anything.

Yea ive read the entire manual about 3 or 4 times.

I understand what the manual says for wiring one sub to two amps, but would i just bridge both sub positves and both sub negatives to each of the amp positives to wire both subs to both amps and then jump the negstive on the amp to the other negative?

Wire your subs like Option 2 on this page, you need a 2 ohm final load.

Subwoofer Wiring Diagrams, Two 2 ohm Dual Voice Coil (DVC) Speakers

If you try to wire them like Option 1 you will fry something. After the subs are wired exactly like the Option 2 diagram you will have 2 wires connected to the speakers that aren't connected to anything else. There will be a positive and a negative, the same as if you were connecting a single speaker, like the diagram in the amplifier manual.

Then connect the positive to the positive on amp#1 and the negative to the positive on amp#2.

Then connect jumper from negative on amp#1 to negative on amp#2

Strap the amps with mono cable from out on amp#1 to in on amp#2

Connect the RCAs from the head unit to amp#1

Connect your power, ground, and remote and you should be all set.

Well i used to have both wired to just one of the amp. And i remember there was only one negative and one positive wire going to the amp, and both subs were being used, so i assume that the sub wiring is already done, no? Ill do all of this tonite. Thanks!

what does "strapping" the amp mean? and heres my desired setup and i dont know anything about ohms or anything that will mess up my car or amps.. can you tell me if this will work out good..

2009 honda civic si with navi and premium sound system

i already took out all the factory speaker and replaced them with alpine type s component speakers in the front and kicker ks series for the back.. (currently hooked up to factory amp.)

i recently purchased an alpine mrp-f300 amp.. i plan on cutting the speaker wires before the factory amp and tapping into the speaker wires from there onto the speaker level input wires on the amp.

i also have a pair of kicker comp12's hooked up to a rockford prime r500-1

now i plan on running a 4gauge wire to the trunk and putting one side of the fuse holder (100amp) and the other side putting 2 8gauge wires coming out to both of the amps. (not sure if im allowed to do that.. help??)

are all of the ohms correct for this setup.. and how will this sound?
