I'm thinking about getting 6 10 ssa icons in a sealed enclosure.space I is no issue I have a minivan.I'm not so sure about the amp yet. I was also wondering what other brands are good for sql. My budget is $2000 for subwoofers

Rather than the 10 icons I would go with 2 15" or 18" sundown NS v3's or ZV4's. Maybe 2 FI SP4's also. Is the 2k just for the sub's or the sub's and amp and your electrical? Cause your gonna have to have a hell of an amp and an electrical system to push any of this stuff.

Do 6 sound qubed hds3 12"s or 15"sand put them on 1k each so if we are going budget on the amp 2 audiopipe apcl3000's strapped would get it done and leave you enough money for an alt.

Or you could do something like 4 sundown sa15's and run them off of the used warhorse that's in the classifieds.. You are still gonna need an alt though.

When ppl are building an sq setup they usually don't want 6-8 subs .. Are you just wanting a clean but powerfull low range or are you going to compete with it?? Because if you just wanna bang hard and clean than that's a whole bunch cheaper and easier .

Are you willing to go used on the amp?? There are several big amps in the classifieds like there is an ns-1, an m4, and even a warhorse in the classifieds.. If you pick out an amp it will make it easier to pick out your subs

Hahaha I thought this very same thing if he has 2k to spend on just amp and subs than why not 4 hdc3 18" subs in 8 cu3 ported tuned to 32 htz that's 1250$$ and run it off of that SOUNDSTREAM xxx 10k in the classifieds (800$) dayum that would be nasty and right on budget.. You will have to buy at least a 300 amp alt and a couple off batts but 4 hdc318" subs on 2500 rms each is a lot of sub/amp powa.

Best deal would have been buying the 4 bnib ab xfl 15"s in the classifieds for 600$ and put them on the DD m4 all in the classifieds.. But the xfl's are gone the m4 is still there .. I would be looking for a big used amp

Another choice would be 6 sundown e12 v2's with like 4k going to them e series 12"a are like 90$ each and that would leave you enough to get 5k amp and a 300 amp alt if you shop around..

I think the e series is not quite as beefy as the soundqubed hds3's but they are cheaper too

I agree here. Op there are many option available for what you want but not all subs are considered SQL by any means. Amp wise id look at 5000 watts rms amps or smaller. But multiple ones if smaller SQL also will be only as good as your install

the only thing a larger sub can do is dig a little deeper do to surface area of the cone. my buddy has 1 18 obsidian and he listens to only rock and metal. it had more punch and a tighter sound than my 2 12" oas had. but i was tuned low for low base were he was tuned higher to give the punch he wanted in the music he likes. same subs Just different enclosures. were do people keep getting that larger subs equal sloppy base.

Well they were back in the day but technology is a great thing . I love it when older high end equipment comes up for sale and after you look at the specs and compare it to what is available now it's kinda funny I remember I bought a set of vega stroker 15"s I think I paid a grand for both of them and compare that to what you can get now for a grand.. Say a pair of z15's and compare them straight up and tell me how you like the old school stuff now..

Same thing with amps I bought a Phoenix gold zx500 back in the day for around 600$ great amp for the time but now if you advertised a 45% efficient amp that put out 550rms at 2 ohm for 500-600$ people would laugh!!

Other than some sq stuff you can keep the old school stuff lol

6 icons is 7500 watts man. You'll need duo alternators to run that along with 400+ amp hours worth of batteries. If the subs and box wont kill your car's suspension, the batteries will. You'll need to upgrade to high strength suspension when doing big builds.
