I'm going to miss George W. Bush

I don't think pilot knew it was a word. I don't think common people use it. I use it frequently, but I mostly talk to others who are familiar with financial and economic terms.

gee thanks. fortunately, i knew what he meant... it's called proving a point about the english degree comment. DOUCHEBAG

People in finance pay people with english degrees to spell check them. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

no, i agree with that. but why are you assuming that's the kind of lifestyle that all of these working people try to maintain? how about those that work these jobs that are barely scraping by, using everything they have each month, trying to take care of their families?
Why do YOU worry about that person? Are they paying your bills? Putting food in your stomach? No. Stop thinking with your heart man. Like Flip said, it's the governments job to make sure they can live, and that's all.

Then they are barely scraping by...they are surviving and living. It is not the responsibility of government to provide them with more than that, and the opportunity to grow.
again, i don't disagree. and there are too many people that stand their with their hands out when they are fully capable of providing for themselves, but just choose not to. i don't think it's the government's responsibility to be bailing out all of these industries in general. but we have slumped into such a huge recession, what can we do to revive the economy other than try to feed it some support?

i'm a girl.

think about your tax dollars and where they go... we DO pay for some of these people who are on government-funded programs. so yes, i'm concerned.

We shouldn't try to revive it. It's a correction. This is supposed to happen.

What I hate the most about corrections like this is that some old guy with no clue about anything whose company dumped his entire pension into a 401(k) that the guy has no idea how to manage has lost 50% of it's value and he plans to try to retire soon.

If there was any "big government" law type of deal I would create is that if an employer switches from defined benefit to defined contribution, that they pay for individuals to get financial advice. It isn't that expensive and a guy who has been tightening bolts for 30 years probably doesn't know the first thing about portfolio management.

Furthermore, how are you familiar with the term, yet unfamiliar with the time value of money? That makes no sense.
i'm not. i'm quite familiar with it. i was simply stating that the stimulus, if passed, will release funds to people right now. i never said people would seriously be getting their money back. do we ever? shoot, if we did, i'd be pretty stoked right now considering the amount of money i had to pay in taxes last year! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

Because you may see a return when you are in a similar circumstance. Better to co-operate than to defect.

Also, I don't think that abortion is a moral or religious question. It is a biological question. We have already established that killing another human being is wrong; we must now define scientifically when a baby becomes a human. There is no room for "choice".

Wow...a girl that made it on the forum longer than a month....

Of course we should help some people out...but just enough to get by. If people where forthright, subsidy programs would work. But they aren't...so we need too many lines of accountants to check the efficacy of the programs.

now there's a point!

No one ever said what will happen to the value of our dollar...
It is impossible to predict exactly what will happen with the dollar. Contraction of the money supply and a rapid increase in interest rates once the economy begins to recover may minimize effects.
