hi i was wondering if i could get some help connecting my equipment. its a little confusing, so please bear with me!

i have a Pioneer head unit with ONLY Front and Rear outputs. NO subwoofer out.

i also have an old school Pioneer EQ-7000 that has a Front INPUT and Front and Rear OUTPUTS.

i have 3 amps total. 2 amps are sub amps and will be connected together. i will run those sub amps off the Rear output of the deck. so that part im ok with.

next, i will then will run a short rca cable from the Front OUTPUT of the deck to the Front INPUT of the external EQ.

now that leaves me with Front and Rear OUTPUT on the external EQ. i want to get the full benefits of the EQ and it gets confusing coz there are so many settings.

now, the 3rd amp is where im having problems with connecting as to get the best performance from and to get the best performance from my EQ. its a 4 channel Pioneer GM-X924 amp. Front and Rear speakers of the car will be connected to it.

now, do i run a single set of rca cables from the Front OR Rear OUTPUTS of the EQ to the amp and then split the rca's using "single female to 2 males" rca connectors, then plug ALL 4 male connector ends into the amp?

which OUTPUT of the EQ should i use? the Front or Rear? i was thinking front, but not sure.

how can i do this, so i get the amp connected correctly and get the most benefits from the EQ and also having fading capabilities so the front and rear speakers are seperated so i can fade them correctly etc..... ???

thanks a lot! any advice will help a lot!! hopefully there are some Pioneer experts out there

If the EQ has front and rear outputs, it should have a fader built into it. To be able to use the fader, you will need to use both the front and rear outputs on the EQ, running two sets of rca cables between them and the front and rear inputs on the amp.

Set the fader on the head unit to 0 or even with the front and rear. Then use the fader on the EQ to control the front and rear speakers.

A good thing about having the fader in the EQ is that you can set the fader and balance on the mids and highs without affecting the signal to your subs.

Hope this helps.

ok ill try that

but what do i set the Pioneer head unit EQ at? Flat? or what? i have like 5 or 6 built-in EQ settings that come with the pioneer. if im to use "0" settings on the head unit, what eq setting should it be at?

Most head units EQ's will have a custom or user-selectable mode. Some will have a setting to turn the EQ on the head unit off altogether. If you have a custom mode, set each frequency (low, mid, high, etc.) to 0 for a flat response. That will give you a flat signal coming from the head unit to the EQ-7000. After that, you can tweak the 7000 to whatever sound you like.
