Im broke because of this build.

Looks like the glass got a good seal on that one....

hmm.. did you make a curve bend using resin? if so... why not use some pvc piping then just coat that with some resin. it would give you a cleaner curve, and if you back filled the gap with resin, and put like 4 screws to hold the pvc pipe down it would be very strong. infact it may be possible to remove the pvc after the resin hardens and have a nice clean curve... just saying.. but looks good. now is this going to be for ? 18s right? isn't 1.7 cubes ported is small isn't it?

I wasnt trying to make pretty corners, just trying to seal it up and get some strength, resin alone isnt strong, its pretty brittle.

This is for 8 15s.

1.7 cube per sub ported is a little small isn't it? now i'm not used to building 4th order bp boxes. but isn't 1.7 cubes a little on the small side? so 8 subs x 1.7 cubes thats 13.6 cubes ported for 8 15's... that seems to me to be way too small. maybe 4 or 5 of the 15's would be alright for 13 cubes. but not 8. thats gonna be an odd sounding bass. loud i'm sure but not gonna be all that tonal.

i mean what do you think. a 4th order with 8 15's with only 13.6 cubes ported and 12 sealed. its not really enough airspace ported?

any box desingers or people with a little more experience on 4th order boxes? because I'm afraid that is gonna be WAY to small.

I know i've seen alot of 2 18 4th order boxes and I know on one of them it was around 18 cubes on the ported side. and your running 8 15's... with less port space. just seems like your going to be ripping this thing apart in a month because its not what it should be.

Tell Desire that, their van has similar specs and does over 160 and will play any song they throw at it. I wouldnt be going through this much trouble just to rip it back apart. Oh and the Desire van is using the same subs this one is getting.

Im tired of people questioning the design. It works, and its proven for these subs.

I love how you think every 15 needs X amount of airspace and y amount of port.

Just like any tire will fit on every rim right?

ok. I'm just going on experience.... thats all. I've never seen a 15 inch woofer that really performed well in 1.7 cubes of airspace. just saying. thats about the average airspace that a 12 inch woofer usually runs in. and people are questioning the design because its not usually a good idea to use a small port, and small airspace for a big woofer. the 1.5 cubes sealed is ok. but usually a sub needs a little more airspace than what they are in sealed just saying. its just "COMMON KNOWLEDGE" a sub that needs 1.5 cubes sealed will not really sound all that well in a ported box thats thee same size. esp one that has such a small port. IIRC its around 250 square inches. for 8 15's... thats tiny.

My guess is this is going to be one BIG major FAIL. but hey thats just my idea of a real box. most subs should be in a decent amount of airspace. you are choking down your box size and port. and for a 15 inch woofer.... with multiple drivers.... you are either going to blow the hell out of some of the woofers or your going to have some massive harmonic distortion. or both!

( The tire comment makes no sense.... there are different size rims.... its like saying the box for 12 inch subs will hold an 18. right because its a sub box lol. ) and the airspace of your box is equivalent to that of an 18 in a 12 box just saying.

and honestly most subs should be in at least a specific amount of airspace depending on the size of the woofer. And IIRC DD even states that those subs should be in around 3 cubes ported.... average. I could see maybe 2.5 on the small side. for spl setups with gobs of power. but 1.7 is Way to small for a 15 for a ported box. maybe sealed. not ported.

and after finding the guy your talking about. his port is not 250 sq inches. its huge. probably about 25 or so wide and probably about 3 or 4 feet tall. it appears that the port in their setup is like 500+ sq inches as it should be. you have 252 or so sq inches. on 13.6 cubes. and for a standard ported box that would be fine. but considering the fact you have 8 15's loading out of that port. your killing your efficiency with such a small port. I would probably have about 400 sq inchs min for that setup. thats just me. but I believe your going to hate yourself after finishing this because its not going to be what it should!
