AcidDreams mixing glue with sawdust ive heard of this but isnt that more like wood putty than a sealant? iIRC elmers makes a wood filler just like that. i wouldnt reccomend it if not mixed right it will be to stiff and crack under the pressure

but for just sealing the edges I'd use it over silicone... partly because it's free

That's not a sealent , it's an adhesive for construction ..... Why everyone tries EVERYTHING but the sealant that is MADE FOR SEALING, which is silicone, is beyond me. Everything else is a substitute for the real thing ...... Finding other products when silicone works the best doesn't make any sense.

also pre-drill ur holes in the exact middle of the piece ur screwing the screws into.....wood is less likely to split
